Adam Cole Makes Video Appearance

Saturday’s AEW Worlds End 2025 event at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates featured Adam Cole making a surprise video appearance.

During the Zero Hour pre-show, Cole made a surprise appearance as a special guest panelist running down his picks for the winners for the matches for tonight’s show. Cole also thanked the fans for the support they have shown him and stated that he is hopeful we will see more of him in 2026.

This was Cole’s first appearance in AEW since this past July’s All In Texas event due to a concussion injury.

Ortiz Makes Surprise Return

Saturday’s AEW Worlds End 2025 also featured Ortiz making his surprise return.

Following Eddie Kingston’s victory over Zack Gibson on the Zero Hour pre-show, Grizzled Young Veterans’ James Drake ran into the ring and attacked Kingston leading to a brief brawl that led to Gibson joining in and him and Drake taking turns choking out Kingston with a belt. This led to Ortiz’s music playing and him running out to the ring to save Kingston and cleared GYV away.

This was Ortiz’s first televised appearance in AEW since January of 2024.

El Clon Return Set for AEW Collision in Jan. 2026

Saturday’s AEW Worlds End 2025 also featured the announcement of El Clon making his return to AEW’s Collision brand in January of 2026.

Following Mascara Dorada & Bandido’s victory over the Don Callis Family’s Rocky Romero & Mark Davis, the video started glitching and aired a teaser hyping up El Clon’s return next month for Collision.

Saturday’s AEW Worlds End 2025 event also featured two new matched announced for the card of next week’s AEW Dynamite New Year’s Smash 2025 show on December 31st at the Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Ralston, Nebraska.

Among the notable new matches announced was an AEW TBS Championship match of Willow Nightingale vs. Mercedes Mone (c).

This new match was setup following the Babes of Wrath (Nightingale & Harley Cameron) defeating Mone & Athena to retain the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship after Nightingale had pinned Mone. In a follow-up segment, Lexy Nair was seen backstage outside of Mone’s dressing room trying to get an interview with her. This led to Mone showing up and ignoring Nair and went into her room screaming in anger and broke a mirror. After calming down, Mone came out of her room for the interview only to get angry again after Nair brought up that the end of 2025 hasn’t been good to her. Mone responded talking about all of her accomplishments and issued a challenge to Nightingale for New Year’s Smash. Mone then stated that she’s going to beat Willow Nightingale’s “f*cking ass.” It was announced afterwards that this match was made official for Mone’s TBS title for the show.
