Jerry Lawler Comments on Him Not Ruling Out Future In-Ring Return For One More Match & Reveals He Went Color Blind After Recent Stroke

Action News 5 held a recent interview with WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler. One of the topics discussed included Lawler’s thoughts about the future of his in-ring wrestling career and the idea of him potentially having one more match in the future.

“I have not put it out of my mind. We have one more match in there somewhere.”

Lawler also gave his thoughts about his recovery from his most recent stroke in 2023.

“Oh gosh, I get asked that question 50 times a day. I like to say something I saw on the news recently was people say, ‘Uh, six or seven…’ I’ll get up to seven and boop, somehow, I’ll go back to six.

You can’t know when you’re gonna have ‘em, and it’s just, boom, you have it. I was in Florida by myself and woke up one morning and everything was messed up, and I had to call Lauren (McBride) to come down from Memphis and to get me from the hospital and everything down there.”

Lawler also revealed that he went color blind following his recent stroke.

“Because I’m colorblind and I can’t see the colors, and this is black and white.”

Arn Anderson Says He’s “Terrified”
By The Style of Modern-Day Wrestling

Denise Salcedo held a recent interview with WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson. One of the topics discussed included Anderson’s thoughts about him being “terrified” by the style of modern-day wrestling in regards to the risks wrestlers are taking during matches.

“I’m terrified. I respect the girls and guys of today’s wrestling industry, but scared to death too, because I see things in the ring that you can’t protect yourself on. “Anything going backwards, German Suplex, you can’t protect yourself because you can’t see where you’re going. Stuff off the top, going through tables, things that are dangerous.”

Anderson also gave his thoughts about his own experience in wrestling during his days as an active in-ring wrestler.

“You look at me, I’m beat up, and I didn’t do any of that stuff, so I’m just worried that in five years we’re gonna have a casualty list, and I hate it for the young guys and girls, because they feel like they need to go to that level to get the audience’s approval.

Do you need them to do that to enjoy their matches? If they dialled it down would you not follow them? I’m not saying take everything away from them, take all the excitement away, but take some of the stuff that talent are time after time getting hurt on and just dial it down, that’s all I’m asking.”

Anderson also gave his thoughts about his belief that injuries are more frequent in current day wrestling.

“I’ll never get my wish. I don’t have any control over the business at all, other than my opinion, but I hear almost on a weekly basis who is dropping out due to injury. It was not that way when I was wrestling, and granted, we weren’t doing the stuff they are doing, and that was by design.

I’ll give an example; Ric’s daughter, Ashley Flair, Charlotte. She’s famous for dropping her opponent on the floor, going to the top rope and doing a Moonsault to the floor. If you go back and slow the tape down, there’s no way to catch somebody off top, and she’s landing on her feet. What’s the odds of her blowing her knee out or tearing her hamstring? You tell me if she doesn’t do that move, I’ll be disappointed. I don’t think so.”

Dudley stated “I gotta tell you, I was shocked when they even announced that the match was happening, and then when the boots were left, I mean, it was a lot of emotion. The 1,000th episode of TNA, I was happy, but I wasn’t happy. It didn’t really- it wasn’t a proper send-off. So when Bubba came back to me and told me about three years later, ‘I have an idea to do the Hardys and the Dudleys one last time time,’ I jumped on it.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

And we’re not there yet.” DDP also gave his thoughts about Luger’s original plans for his WWE Hall of Fame induction was for him to walk up to the stage but those plans got shelved following him suffering a fall incident at an airport. DDP stated “He hit that concrete — and he felt so bad. He’s like, ‘D, I feel so bad. I can’t walk and I want to do this for you.’ I’m like, ‘F*ck me, this is about you.
