Backstage Update on WWE’s Main Roster Call-up Plans for Ethan Page

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported in a recent Q&A article that his sources stated that Chelsea Green has been regularly pushing for WWE to officially call up NXT North American Champion and co-AAA Mixed Tag Team Champion “All Ego” Ethan Page to their main roster.

Sapp reported that Page has made “good impressions” with WWE officials during his frequent appearances on SmackDown but it has not been enough yet for him to be officially promoted to the main roster.

Sapp also reported that Page’s continued presence on NXT for the foreseeable future could also be down to the brand itself and The CW Network officials requiring veteran wrestlers with immense television experience under their belt for NXT shows.

Kevin Nash & Glenn “Kane” Jacobs Comments on Mick Foley Cutting Ties with WWE Over Donald Trump Relationship

As noted before, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley announced last week that he will not be renewing his Legends contract with WWE and has parted ways with the company over their continued association with President Donald J. Trump. Foley had stated that his final straw was recent tasteless comments made by Trump on social media following the murder of legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle and WWE being quiet over it.

A recent episode of the Kliq This podcast featured co-host and WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash giving his thoughts about Foley cutting ties with WWE and his reasons why he is not doing the same despite his different political views with the McMahon-Levesque family.

“Mick (Foley) was in the news. He bailed, and I was just like, man, I understand it and if that’s how Mick feels, I get it, from Mick’s standpoint. But for me personally — because I had some people text me like, ‘Are you gonna follow suit?’ I said, ‘Let me explain my position.’ I called a couple people because I’m not gonna f*cking text my thought patterns, but I’m like, Paul (Levesque) and I drove up and down the road for a year and a half. Paul was the first of The Kliq to hold T (Nash’s son)… As time goes on, he gets with Steph (McMahon) and I was at their wedding. I was one of Paul’s best men. I was in the wedding. When I was Diesel, they flew my wife up to New York City and Linda (McMahon) took my wife out for the day… And that was my wife’s first visit to New York City while I was busy doing a commercial and doing some other things. Linda took care of my wife and I’ll forever be grateful for that because my wife was really nervous. I look at the McMahon-Levesque… I look at them as family. They’re just family to me. Linda knows what my political views are, and I remember we were at Barclays Center, where the Nets play… Her Suburban (truck) was coming out and I walked up to it and security guys, her detail, stopped me. It was priceless — the look she gave me. Like, you f*cking liberal, and she just looked at me, she goes, ‘Ah, he’s okay,’ and I went over and I gave her a hug and I asked her how she was doing. She said, ‘Fine.’ It’s like, they’re my Republican family, you know? But they’re family.”

Besides Nash, WWE Hall of Famer and current Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee Glenn “Kane” Jacobs also responded in a recent interview with Newsmax about Foley cutting his ties with WWE.

“Well, certainly it’s no surprise. I know where Mick (Foley) is at politically and we’ve had our discussions about politics and we’ve always been able to keep them civil and I wish that could happen more on the public platforms altogether. One thing is we live in a country where we are free to disagree about things, and I think Mick is wrong, but nevertheless, he’s entitled to his opinion. I will defend his right to say that, even if I do think he’s wrong and that’s the beauty of America. I wish that would kind of be all over the place as opposed to just wrestling.”
