Chelsea Green Comments on Her Wrestling Journey & Being Told “No” Many Times In Her Career

Denise Salcedo held a recent interview with Chelsea Green. One of the topics discussed included Green’s thoughts about her pro wrestling career journey and how she had been told “no” many times throughout her career.

“It’s so crazy, Matt (Cardona) and I were just talking about, we would have never guessed, when we first met nine, almost 10 years ago, that when I was at TNA and he was at WWE, then I would get to WWE, then he would get fired, then I would get fired, then I would get hired and he wouldn’t get hired, years later he would get hired and I would be a double champion and all my dreams would be coming true and I’d travel the world and I represent the company.

All these things are so crazy, but I do feel like the journey to get here was so hard, that now that I’m here, there’s not one person in this world that can say I didn’t work for it.

There’s a lot of chosen ones in wrestling, you see that happen, the machine has scooped you up and thrust you to the top. It’s amazing, and some unbelievable stars come from it. But for me, my story is so different and relatable, and I didn’t get everything handed to me; I was told no so many times.

There were a lot of people that told me there was nothing unique about me, and I figured out my niche, and I think that’s really special, and that’s what fans kind of attach to, like she is one of us.”

Former WWE wrestler Marc Mero recently announced on Twitter that he is currently selling his first guaranteed contract he received in WWE in 1996. Mero statedAs I continue going through my wrestling memorabilia, I came across a pretty incredible piece of history. In 1996, I received a $50,000 signing bonus from the WWF, which would be worth approximately $105,000 today. What makes this even more special is that I was the first wrestler to receive a guaranteed contract, on top of a signing bonus of this size, something unheard of at the time. The document is signed by Linda McMahon, adding to its historical significance. I’m currently selling my memorabilia, including very rare items like my WWF first guaranteed contract, which helped open the door for guaranteed contracts for wrestlers who came after me. It’s been amazing rediscovering these moments and reflecting on how far the business has come. If you’re interested in learning more about what’s available, you can email me at meromarc@yahoo.com
