Izzi Dame Wins NXT Women’s North American Title
Tuesday’s WWE NXT New Year’s Evil 2026 show also featured Izzi Dame defeating Thea Hail in an Open Challenge match to become the new NXT Women’s North American Champion.
Hail’s originally scheduled match against Blake Monroe did not take place after Monroe had attacked Hail earlier in the show resulting in the match being thrown out and NXT GM Ava banning Monroe from the building. In a follow-up segment, Hail, Jordynne Grace, and Ava were seen in the trainers room and Hail managed to convince Ava to let her still defend her title in an open challenge on the show.
In another follow-up segment, Hail came out to the ring and issued an open challenge for her title. This led to a bunch of the women’s locker room rushing out only to get chased away by Tatum Paxley with a chainsaw. Before Paxley could get into the ring, Dame attacked Hail and Shawn Spears had the timekeeper ring the bell to make the match official.

Jorydnne Grace Called Up to WWE Main Roster and Oba Femi Leaves NXT Title In Ring & Departs After Victory Over Leon Slater
Tuesday’s WWE NXT New Year’s Evil 2026 show also featured NXT Champion Oba Femi departing from the NXT brand following his victory over Leon Slater to retain his title.
Following his victory, NXT GM Ava was seen backstage talking to the WWE EVOLVE locker room and stated that there will be a lot of new opportunities on NXT and spots due to Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, Lash Legend, and Jordynne Grace all being officially called up to the main roster. This led to Robert Stone showing up to interrupt and told Ava if she saw what Femu just did, which Ava responded back not knowing what happened.
This led to the camera going back to the ring showing the NXT title laid on the mat and Femi being nowhere to see as Tony D’Angelo looked on from the crowd.
Opportunity knocks… 👀
