Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that several of AEW’s original plans for Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in Sacramento, California had to be rewritten due to issues related to injuries and illnesses.
Meltzer reported that while the Kenny Omega vs. Swerve Strickland and the TBS Championship Four-way matches were not affected, other matches and plans were affected and had to be rewritten for the show.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that there were a lot of illnesses within AEW, some from people who had traveled to Australia and some who didn’t go, that was believed to have originated from somebody who may have been sick backstage at last week’s show resulting in a lot of people falling ill. Meltzer reported that AEW was working with a skeleton crew for Wednesday’s show as a result.
Besides the illnesses issues, AEW reportedly also had to deal with some people dealing with injuries that also contributed to the rewrites for the show.
Meltzer reported that one match that was impacted was the Kevin Knight vs. The Beast Mortos match due to Mortos was originally not scheduled to be at the show but filled in for Knight’s match.
No other details were given regarding specific names nor angles that were affected for the show.
