Arrest Made in Shooting Deaths of Indie Wrestler Lars Luger & His Mother
ABC7 News reported that a 31-year old man has been arrested on the suspicion of the fatal shooting of indies wrestler Lars Luger, real name Evans Simonds, and his mother Lori Simonds at a home in Pleasanton, California last week.
It was reported that the shooting took place this past Wednesday and Pleasanton police officers entered the home and discovered Evans and Lori’s deceased bodies from multiple gunshot wounds.
It was also reported that investigators found multiple firearms in the suspect’s vehicle and at his home. Investigators reportedly also determined that the suspect was in a recent relationship with a family member of the victims.
A GoFundMe fundraiser was recently launched to help support Simond’s sister.
Florida Indies Wrestler Nicolth Hernandez-Lucero Detained By ICE & Gangrel Asks Fans For Support
NBC6 Miami reported that Florida-based indies wrestler Nicolth Hernandez-Lucero was detained by ICE earlier this month.
In an interview with the outlet, Hernandez-Lucero’s husband Noah Lazega stated that she was taken into custody following a traffic stop by ICE agents on February 11th in Fort Lauderdale and has remained in detention since then. Lazega also stated that Lucero is originally from Colombia and had moved to the United States at age 15. Lazega also stated that she also works as a surgical technician at a local hospital.
Hernandez-Lucero was trained by former WWE wrestler Gangrel, who recently shared a GoFundMe fundraiser and asked fans on Facebook to help support her family with the legal costs to free her from detention.
“Please help if you can, great people in a terrible situation.”
In a statement to NBC6 Miami, Hernandez-Lucero’s attorney, Justin Gould, stated that she had entered the country legally as a dependent through her parents and has no criminal record. It was reported that an NBC6 search of Florida public records did not show any criminal history for Hernandez-Lucero.
It was reported that Hernandez-Lucero is currently being held at an ICE detention facility in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Monday’s Marigold New Year Golden Garden event in Tokyo, Japan featured Miku Aono defeating CHIAKI in a Hair vs. Hair match. This match also featured Aono’s Marigold World Championship being on the line. As a result of her loss, CHIAKI was forced to shave her head as per match stipulation.
The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that a lot of Lucha Libre shows were cancelled on Sunday for safety reasons following the killing of “El Mencho”, who was the powerful cartel leader of the CJNG (Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generación). El Mencho, real name Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, was killed in a operation carried out by the Mexican military. Meltzer reported that El Mencho’s death resulted in mass violence breaking out in many parts of Mexico causing schools, public transportation, and businesses in certain areas of the country to be closed or asked to be temporarily closed for safety concerns. Meltzer also reported that CMLL is expected to announce the cancellation of their upcoming shows this week as a result.
Sunday’s Premier Wrestling Federation event featured former ECW wrestler and current WWE coach Steve Corino defeating Kaitlyn Marie to become the new PWF Champion. This was Corino’s first match since August of 2021.
Indies talent O’Shay Edwards recently announced on Twitter that he will be retiring from wrestling after the end of this year. Edwards has been wrestling since 2016 and has worked for various notable promotions including Ring of Honor, Major League Wrestling, Game Changer Wrestling, and made several appearance in AEW.
