As noted before, WWE has been considering several ideas for their plans for Drew McIntyre and the Undisputed WWE Championship match at this April’s WrestleMania 42 event in Las Vegas, Nevada. Among the ideas being considered involved Jacob Fatu being factored into the title match scene for WrestleMania 42.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that Cody Rhodes is currently a “virtual lock” to compete for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42.
Meltzer reported that it is currently not known if this match will be a singles match or be a Triple Threat match involving Jacob Fatu or even a larger multi-man match involving Randy Orton, Sami Zayn, or others. Meltzer also reported that those spoken to stated that a match involving more than three people is currently not being discussed within WWE for the Undisputed WWE title match.
Meltzer also reported that there have been some frustrations within WWE over the original plans for the Undisputed WWE title match were ditched. Those within WWE reportedly also have some frustrations over the idea of doing McIntyre vs. Rhodes as a singles match again due to its too predictable and there already have been three singles matches and two on PLEs in recent months between the two.
Meltzer also reported that WWE officials have been rewriting their plans for WrestleMania 42 but he believes that the Undisputed WWE title match for the event has already been decided upon.
