WWE reportedly originally planned for Gunther to begin a program with Rey Mysterio to lead to a match between the two at this April’s WrestleMania 42 event in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to BodySlam+.
It was reported that their sources stated that this storyline feud was meant to begin after Gunther attacked Dragon Lee on the March 2nd episode of WWE RAW.
WWE officials plans for Gunther vs. Mysterio are currently uncertain due to Mysterio suffering a rib injury this past January and has been out of action since this past January’s Royal Rumble 2026 event.
It was also reported that it is currently uncertain if Gunther will even be competing at next month’s WrestleMania 42 event due to Mysterio’s injury situation.
