As noted before, Steve Maclin suffered a head-related injury during his match against Mike Santana for the TNA World Championship at Friday’s TNA Sacrifice 2026 event in Westwego, Louisiana. Maclin was unable to continue resulting in the match being called off. Maclin’s injury was quickly speculated online to be a potential concussion injury due to the way Maclin was knocked out after getting hit with a superkick by Santana.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that the early belief within TNA was that Maclin may have suffered a concussion injury but this was something he was not able to confirm at the time of his report.
Johnson reported that Maclin was checked out backstage after the match and he seemed coherent but was obviously upset about how things went down.
Johnson also reported that match referee Alice Lane deserves a lot of praise and credit for noticing right away that something was wrong with Maclin and for calling for the match to be paused in order for him to get treatment.
Johnson also reported that Eddie Edwards running out at the end and getting involved with Santana was an audible that was called in order to give the crowd something to make up for the main event match being stopped due to injury.
