Rey Mysterio Confirms He Suffered Fractured Ribs Injury In January
As noted before, Rey Mysterio suffered an injury during his singles match against Austin Theory at the January 26th episode of WWE RAW in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Despite the injury, Mysterio traveled to Saudi Arabia and competed in the Men’s Royal Rumble match at WWE’s Royal Rumble 2026 event several days later.
Unlikely’s Adrian Hernandez held a recent interview with Mysterio. One of the topics discussed included Mysterio revealing that he had suffered a fractured ribs injury this past January.
“Much better than when it actually happened. That injury occurred on the Monday leading into the Rumble. Fractured ribs, both left and right, those take a little bit of time to heal. On the way up.”

Nic Nemeth Comments on “My Last WWE Contract Was To Keep Me From Going To AEW”
A recent episode of the Off The Ropes with Johnathan Coachman podcast featured TNA talent Nic Nemeth, former Dolph Ziggler in WWE, as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Nemeth’s thoughts about how his final contract in WWE was meant to keep him from going to AEW at the time.
“My last contract was to keep me from going to AEW. That was it. It was winked and not said, but it was completely understood. I go, I’m asking for this elaborate amount because I know you won’t pay me what I’m worth. I’m gonna make a move. I’m going elsewhere. They go, nope, we’ll do it. I go, what? Okay.”
Nemeth had signed a new two-year contract extension with WWE in 2018 and was released from the company in September of 2023. It is currently not known exactly when this final contract for Nemeth was signed during that time period.
