AEW held a media scrum following Sunday’s Dynasty 2026 event at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Some of the notable highlights included:
- At the start of the media scrum, AEW CEO Tony Khan provided an update on Gabe Kidd’s injury status confirming that he had suffered a shoulder injury and would be out of action for an “indefinite” amount of time.
- During her portion of the media scrum, AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla gave her thoughts about her re-signing with AEW. Thekla stated “Well, it’s very obvious I’m a perfect fit for AEW. Also, the company needs me. Nobody’s ever done it like me. I’m a standout champion, so, AEW is the perfect platform for me to just grow and take over the world eventually.”
- Thekla also gave her thoughts about how she is very hands on with her entrance and other aspects of her look. Thekla stated she is an artist as she paints, writes, and makes her own ring gear.
- During AEW World Trios Champions The Conglomeration’s (Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, & Kyle O’Reilly) portion of the media scrum, O’Reilly gave his thoughts about his surprise return from injury and how tonight meant the world to him. O’Reilly stated “Absolutely unbelievable feeling. To hold gold in his company, where the best wrestle. That means the absolute world to me. To do it with friends. Friends pick you up. I don’t know if anybody knows, but it’s been a challenging month for myself. To be here with a smile on my face with my buddies by my side and gold around my waist, doing a dream job, there are no words.“
- During his portion of the media scrum, TNT Champion Kevin Knight gave his thoughts about his title victory in the Casino Gauntlet match. Knight stated “Well, this being my first singles (title) ever, whether it’s on the indies, in New Japan and AEW, so for the fact that it happened on the anniversary of my pay-per-view debut here in AEW, a year later, with my tag team partner in the match, it certainly means a lot for me to be the new face of TNT. It’s a lot of pressure but I think The Jet is built for it. This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. It’s so crazy because me and ‘Speedball’ are a tag team but we’ve won trios, we’ve won singles so, I think this is the next thing between us and being tag champs in the future so, I think it’s a great step in the right direction.”
- Knight also gave his thoughts about him wanting to defend his newly won title against his JetSpeed partner “Speedball” Mike Bailey. Knight stated “This is a team win for me and ‘Speedball’ (Mike Bailey). I’ve known him before I got here, and we’ve had great chemistry. He only wants the best for me. I only want the best for him, and I would love to defend this against my tag team partner if you (Tony Khan) would allow it. If we can set something up because me and ‘Speedball,’ we bring the best out of each other. Any time we get together, it’s like brothers just going at it, cousins just going at it so, we love to go at it.”
- On the topic of WrestleCon announcing a new main event of The Demand vs. JetSpeed & Michael Oku for their Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow 2026 event, Knight gave his thoughts about when he first found out about the match. Knight stated “Like a lot of things happen, I was privy to the information once I saw it get posted. I’m used to it at this point. As a champ, you gotta stay ready, you never have to get ready. You put the Jet on the field, I’m gonna score. Wrestling The Demand, we’ve done that millions of times. I love to get in there with Ricochet’s bald head ass and smack him up a little bit. It’ll be another day.“
- Tony Khan responded fist thanking Knight for filling in for the match and AEW stepping up and making sure they helped out WrestleCon after TNA Wrestling pulled their talent from the show. Khan stated “It’s the Mark Hitchcock tribute show, so it’s really a great thing. Given the circumstances, AEW really wanted to step up and make sure we did our part to make sure the tribute show is a great show. I appreciate everyone involved in that match.”
- During his portion of the media scrum, AEW CEO Tony Khan stated that the early pay-per-view buys numbers for Dynasty were “very high” on HBO MAX and this year’s event might be the highest ever for a Dynasty event.
- On the topic of Ricochet’s controversial social media post mocking someone for having MS (multiple sclerosis), Khan stated that he did have a talk with Ricochet about it and that Ricochet had violated the company’s social media conduct policy. Khan stated “I did, and I had a conversation with him. I have a good conversation and a frank talk. That was not acceptable and I think that was communicated. We have a policy and continues to be a policy in place for such things, and that violated it. There is no place for that in wrestling or anywhere. I do appreciate you asking, and we’ve tried to move past that, but thank you for asking.“
- On the topic of injuries, Khan stated that he had made several changes to his original plans for Dynasty due to injuries issues and confirmed that he had big plans for both Kyle Fletcher and “Timeless” Toni Storm for the show. Khan stated “Also, ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm, and I made many changes to this pay-per-view over the last few weeks. They (Storm & Kyle Fletcher) were to both been a big part of it. They’re both a huge part of AEW. Any time I can have Kyle Fletcher, The Protostar, or ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm involved in an AEW event, it’s very important. So, coming out of Revolution, I expected them each to be in matches on the show.“
- On the topic of Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling holding an event on the same day as AEW’s Revolution 2026 event in Vancouver, Khan stated “Tokyo Joshi Pro did not ask for a collab. I probably would’ve been interested. I like Tokyo Joshi Pro and DDT. I believe they are owned by the same owner as NOAH, which is interesting because NOAH has different things, which is okay, but I have done good with DDT and Tokyo Joshi Pro. They are different companies. It’s fair to say I would probably do a lot more with DDT because of Kenny, Takeshita, and (Nakazawa). That’s helped me build relationships with the men and women of DDT. Tokyo Joshi Pro, I really like Miyu Yamashita. I’ve worked with her a lot and have a good relationship with her. She is tremendous. Her being in Vancouver, she was not available to wrestle for me today because she had a show at 11 in the morning. I was in my office this morning when that show started and I chuckled because I was like, ‘I would have 100% helped with the show if I knew they were doing it.’ I didn’t. There was a bunch of women I would have loved to have used.“
- On the topic of AEW’s partnerships with other promotions, Khan stated that one of AEW’s strengths is working with other promotions all around the world. Khan stated that he has built trust with other promoters and feels that his word goes a long way. Khan continued stating that it has helped him build relationships with promotions that were not available at the start like NJPW.
