Cody Rhodes Left Eye Injury Update – WWE Provides Update Saying Rhodes Suffered Orbital Bone Injury

As noted before, Cody Rhodes suffered a left eye injury during his match against Randy Orton for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday’s WWE WrestleMania 42 Night 1 event in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rhodes’ injury was believed to have been caused by Orton’s punt kick attack to Rhodes after their match.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that Rhodes did not suffer the injury from the punt kick and instead it was due to an errant punch by Orton that had caught Rhodes and cut him. This spot took place right before Rhodes’ eyepoke spot to Orton that led to Orton hitting an RKO on referee Charles Robinson.

During today’s WrestleMania 42 Night 2 Kickoff show, WWE backstage interviewer Jackie Redmond provided an update stating that Rhodes is not medically cleared to compete due to an orbital injury. Redmond stated that Rhodes needed staples in the back of his head and a timetable for his return is currently unknown.
