Nic Nemeth Explains TNA President Carlos Silva’s Decision To Pull His Match Against MJF for 5/1 Create-A-Pro Event

As noted before, TNA Wrestling recently changed their policy no longer allowing contracted TNA talents to work on the same indies shows as AEW talents, specifically in regards to matches involving TNA talents competing against contracted AEW talents. TNA released an official statement confirming the new policy and they had pulled their talents due to “partner conflicts.” Among the matches pulled by TNA President Carlos Silva included Nic Nemeth’s scheduled match against AEW World Champion MJF for Create-A-Pro’s event on May 1st in Melville, New York.

Youngstown Studio held a recent interview with Nemeth. One of the topics discussed included Nemeth’s thoughts about Silva’s decision to cancel his match against MJF and Silva’s explanation for it.

“So a lot of things happened at once. I was out of the country doing a couple of UK dates and I found out that a couple of different things were happening. Our President Carlos Silva is very open when it comes to a lot of things, behind the scenes deals, things people don’t always know about, we put out there, he’s very open to constantly being ‘here’s why I can’t do this thing.’

We had a phone call, he said, because of certain deep into contractual obligations, certain companies might have crossover with certain other companies that we are with their rival, or a streaming service, or a cable company. He goes ‘because of the situation, and it’s debatable, and there’s a few of them, we have to do the right thing now’. It’s gonna be a hard choice, but long-term it covers their butts legally for everything.”

Nemeth also gave his thoughts about his match against MJF being cancelled and why he feels “crushed” over the decision.

“I’m crushed, obviously, because you can have the business aspect, you explained to me and showed me the legal basis of why we can’t do this right now, but also the part where I was like ‘this is such a cool thing that’s gonna happen.’

Rarely you get these extra special cool moments, dudes from other companies, dudes from other generations, or in this case both, where you you know it’s going to be good, and big, and awesome and you just can’t get it done, and I’m absolutely crushed, because I go ‘this is gonna be something special down the line’.”

Nemeth also gave his thoughts about him being determined to make his match against MJF happen at some point in the future.

“I like to let everyone know once in a while I can still go, I don’t get tired, I got my stamina from St. Eds and Kent State wrestling team, it’s never going away. I want to show anybody, whether they’re 28, or 35, or the next guy who’s got the torch for AEW for the next 20 years, which really appears to be MJF dominating, I wanted to go ‘hey listen, I can go too, and I want to see if you can hang with me’. This is something we thought we’d never see; that’s what makes it extra special.”
