WWE reportedly is currently working on plans for Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll to be involved in a tag team match at next month’s Backlash 2026 event on May 9th in Tampa, Florida, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s issue that his sources stated that WWE officials current plans are for McAfee to team up with Randy Orton in a tag team match against Cody Rhode and Jelly Roll at Backlash 2026.
Meltzer reported that this match will be setup coming out of next weekend’s WrestleMania 42 event and will be a key match for the Backlash PLE.
Meltzer also reported that this was part of the terms for the deal to bring back McAfee and have him be involved in the Rhodes vs. Orton storyline feud for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42.
