This past Monday’s WWE RAW show at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York featured Raquel Rodriguez defeating IYO SKY in a singles match. This match was notable for the Kabuki Warriors’ Kairi Sane & Asuka interfering and SKY being involved in a scarey situation over a botched suicide dive through the ropes that resulted in her landing on her head and neck.
In response to a recent clip of SKY’s botched dive spot that was posted on Twitter, WWE personality and WWE EVOLVE commentator Peter Rosenberg responded stating that this is the reason why he has been telling wrestlers in WWE to not bother doing these types of dives and claimed that these dives are all risk and no reward in 2026.
“This is why I tell whoever I can at evolve and even on the main roster — don’t bother with these dives. They are all risk — no reward. If you successfully hit a suicide dive in 2026 no one cares, But if you mess it up you could truly harm yourself! Don’t do it. Meant to add the caveat — I am NOT a wrestler of course lol.. but when I watch this up close I cringe every time”

Rosenberg’s comments quickly lead to some negative backlash from both wrestlers and fans criticizing the tone of his comments and him being someone in no position as a non-wrestler to give advice to wrestlers on how they should work. Among those who responded included AEW talent Brody King, WWE talent Bayley, and indies talent Erick Stevens.

AEW coach Chris Hero also responded parodying Rosenberg’s comments stating that he has been telling those within AEW and ROH that they should just stop doing bumps altogether during their matches because of it being all risk and no reward in 2026.

Following the backlash, Rosenberg first defended his comments and told King that he should especially be listening to him and called him a “SOB.” Rosenberg then backed down and clarified his stance claiming he only did it from a place of sincere care.
“People seem upset I posted this. It came only from a place of sincere care. Iyo is amazing and one of the best on earth and it still presents a huge risk. I just think the risks outweigh the reward. I say this as a huge fan and someone who is privileged enough to be up close and personal with this business. I am not a wrestler and never put my body on the line. My respect for those who do it is undying. That said — I have opinions for a living . And my opinion is this move is not dope enough to be worth it anymore.”
