As noted before, TNA Wrestling recently changed their policy no longer allowing contracted TNA talents to work on the same indies shows as AEW talents, specifically in regards to matches involving TNA talents competing against contracted AEW talents. TNA had released an official statement stating they had pulled their talents due to “partner conflicts.” Several matches were revealed and confirmed to have been pulled by TNA President Carlos Silva due to this new talent restrictions policy.
Josh Martinez held a recent interview with Will Ospreay. One of the topics discussed included Ospreay’s thoughts about TNA recently pulling their talents from indies shows over their new restrictions for their talents indies bookings. Ospreay also gave his thoughts about him being in a similar situation in January of 2018 when he faced Pete Dunne in a match when he was the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and Dunne was the the WWE United Kingdom Champion but WWE and NJPW both let the match happen.
“The fact that WWE and New Japan let that match happen, and TNA, of all people, who the fuck do you think you guys are? I’m sorry. All the fucking talk they were giving about being number two and you want to get permission for these guys to do that match and then pull them? I think that’s cowardly shit. I think that says everything about what you view your talent as. You view them as less than AEW talent, and that they don’t want to grow and they don’t want to develop and they don’t want to give back to fans. That’s me being a hard TNA fan. Those beginning years, the 04-05 era will always be my favorite era in wrestling, but come on, we got all the best guys from there. To be fair, I like Steve Maclin, he’s sick. Hang your head in shame, honestly,”
