I would have never thought that I was going to be wrestling at WrestleMania like this. I’m gonna be honest, from a genuine, as ya’ll know, I’ve been watching wrestling since I was six or seven. Genuinely, I’ve been a fan of WWE since was [does small gesture]. I think that was the first sport I actually got introduced to. WWE was like the first thing I actually got into. This is crazy. Me, personally, this is one of those crazy moments.”

CM Punk on He Doesn’t Think He Would Have Returned To WWE Had He Main Evented WrestleMania Before He Left
WWE Now held a recent interview with WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk. One of the topics discussed included Punk’s thoughts about if his upcoming WrestleMania main event match with Roman Reigns would have satisfy the younger version of himself and him thinking he would not have returned to WWE had he main evented a WrestleMania before he left
“You know, satisfy, I don’t know if it’s the word, but it might be dangerous because, yeah, because if you think about this, if I main evented WrestleMania before I left, I don’t think I would have come back because I would have done it. What am I coming back for?
It’s just one of those things. I did it last year, and there’s that moment in Unreal where there’s always cameras on us, but I didn’t know they were shooting me at that moment. That moment was just me standing in the ring after the fact. I didn’t win, and it’s far beyond being about that, and I was just standing in the ring by myself, and I was just looking at like all four sides of the crowd and like people. I could tell there’s people from numerous different countries, and I’m just kind of like looking around all four sides, just like soaking it in. Well, if this is the last time I’m ever going to be in a ring. I did it.”

Shawn Michaels Comments on Use of Superkicks in Pro Wrestling & His Wrestling Legacy Associated With It
A recent episode of the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast featured WWE Hall of Famer and WWE SVP of NXT and Talent Relations Shawn Michaels as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Michaels’ thoughts about the usage of superkicks being more prominent in today’s wrestling compared to his time when it was his finisher and him not caring about the fan complaints about the move being watered down.
“With Sweet Chin Music, it was a couple of years after I retired, and getting a phone call. One guy wanted to use it, ‘Is it okay?’ ‘Yeah, it doesn’t matter to me.’ I think it was Dolph Ziggler. ‘Sure, I’m not there anymore.’ I didn’t want to be an old-timer who stopped the progression and evolution of the business. I ran into that a lot. ‘You’re killing the business. You’re going too fast.’ I didn’t want to be one of those guys. Once I said ‘yes’ to that one, it was like opening a floodgate.
I’m always happy because that question comes up in darn near every interview I do. I still feel like the move is always going to be synonymous with me, which I’m appreciative of. I think to myself, ‘If I’m lying there on my deathbed and the biggest problem in my life is that too many people are using the Sweet Chin Music,’ there is hardly anything to complain about.”
