Rey Mysterio Revealed As Official New GM of AAA

Saturday’s AAA TV show on FOX Latin America and WWE and AAA’s YouTube channels featured the official announcement of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio being the new General Manager of Lucha Libre AAA.

At the start of the show, AAA President Marisela Peña and others were seen in the ring for the ceremony to officially announce the new GM of the company. AAA announcer Jesus Zuinga walked up to the podium and introduced all of the candidates to be the potential new GM. This led to Pena walking up to the podium and talked about her decision, which she revealed was Mysterious being her choice for AAA’s newest GM.

This led to Mysterio’s music and him coming out to the ring. Mysterio’s son and current AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio was briefly shown backstage not being happy about the news. Mysterio proceeded to give a speech for his first words as AAA’s newest GM.

Savio Vega Joins AAA English Commentary Team

Saturday’s AAA TV show also featured former WWE wrestler and current AAA producer Savio Vega officially joining AAA’s English commentary team.

Following the announcement of Rey Mysterio being announced as the newest GM of AAA, Vega was revealed to be replacing Mysyterio as the newest member of the AAA English commentary team alongside Corey Graves and WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield.

Rey Fenix vs. Laredo Kid for AAA World Cruiserweight Title Announced for AAA Noche de Los Grandes 2026

Saturday’s AAA TV show also featured one new match announced for the card of AAA Noche de Los Grandes 2026, which takes place on May 30th at the Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico.

This new match announced was an AAA World Cruiserweight Championship match of Rey Fenix vs. Laredo Kid (c).

This new match was setup following Kid cheating to retain his title against Fenix during tonight’s show. While the referee was distracted, Kid hit a low blow to Fenix and followed it with a Frog Splash for the pinfall victory.

In a follow-up segment, Kid was seen walking backstage with his title. New AAA GM Rey Mysterio confronted Kid and told Kid that he was not pleased with what Kid did during his match with Fenix. Mysterio then told Kid that as a result of his actions, he will be defending his title against Fenix in a rematch at Noche de Los Grandes 2026.
