As noted before, Buddy Matthews has been out of action for AEW since the Grand Slam Australia 2025 event in February of 2025 due to an ankle injury and surgery.
Friday’s Rise Against event for World Series Wrestling in Hindmarsh, Australia featured Matthews making a surprise appearance.
During the show, Donovan Dijak was in the ring leading to a mystery hooded person running out and attacked Dijak from behind with a chair. This mystery person removed their hood revealing himself to be Matthews.
Matthews continued his attack on Dijak laying him out with a stomp and then grabbed a microphone. Matthews stated that he is not medically cleared yet from his ankle injury but he will be cleared by this October.
