Eric Bischoff Responds To Rumors of WWE’s nWo 2020 Reboot Plans During COVID Era as Being “Silly Internet Stupid Sh*t”

A recent episode of the Public Enemies Podcast featured former WWE writer Chris Dunn as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Dunn revealing that a new version of the nWo was discussed within WWE during the COVID pandemic era. Dunn claimed that this new version of the group would have consisted of Sheamus, Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Lars Sullivan and the idea got so far along that WWE was going to bring in a past legend to introduce the faction.

“Do you guys remember that ThunderDome? Really tough to do TV in there, so a lot of ideas were thrown against the wall [laughs]. So, it was discussed at one point, bringing back the nWo 2020.

The pitch was Sheamus, Cesaro, Nakamura, and Lars Sullivan. It was really close to happening… I forget which legendary nWo member was supposed to fly to Orlando to introduce this new nWo. But essentially they landed and they didn’t pass the COVID test.”

Dunn also gave his thoughts about how there were plans for a debut for the group but no concrete ideas after that and WWE officials were going to figure it out as they went.

Following the release of the interview, WWE Hall of Famer and former nWo member Kevin Nash stated on Twitter that he nor Scott Hall nor Sean “X-Pac” Waltman had never heard anything about plans for a potential revival of the group.

Never heard anything about it. Scott and @TheRealXPac and myself were out almost every weekend together. So it definitely wasn't one of us.

In a recent episode of the 83 Weeks with Eric Bishoff podcast, WWE Hall of Famer and co-host Eric Bishoff gave his thoughts about the rumors of WWE planning to revive the nWo group in 2020 and stated that he also had not heard of this idea beforehand.

“I had a couple of people, one in particular, Sean Waltman, who reached out to me and said, ‘Hey, did you ever hear anything about this?’ ‘No, I never heard anything about that.’ Neither did Kevin Nash, apparently. The three surviving members of the NWO knew nothing about it, so obviously, we weren’t involved in it, which makes me think maybe there is something lost in translation along the way. It seems very unlikely for a lot of reasons. It could just be silly internet stupid shit.”
