As noted before, Leon Slater’s contract with TNA Wrestling is currently believed to be expiring at some point this Fall. Slater’s attempt at breaking the longest ever reign as TNA X-Division Champion of 298 days held by both him and Austin Aires fell short following Cedric Alexander defeating him for the title at the May 14th live TNA Impact! show.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that the current belief is that Slater will be joining either WWE or AEW once his contract with TNA expires.
In regards to Cedric Alexander defeating Slater for the TNA X-Division Championship, Meltzer reported that while a lot of people were made over the decision to not have Slater break Austin Aires’ record for the longest ever TNA X-Division title reign, the belief that Slater will be leaving played a role in TNA officials decision to not allow him to break the record.
Slater has made several appearances for WWE since September of 2025 as part of the working partnership between WWE and TNA.
