New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston), JC Mateo, and Tonga Loa recently departed from WWE.
New Day, Mateo, and Loa’s profiles on WWE’s official roster page were recently moved over to the Alumni section fuleing online speculation of all four of them recently departing from the company amidst the newest batch of roster cuts last week.
Fightful Select reported that their sources confirmed that New Day, Mateo, and Loa have departed from WWE and provided some additional details.
It was reported that Kingston and Woods’ departure was a mutual decision made by both sides and not a case of them being released.
In a follow-up report, it was reported that Kingston and Woods are expected to have a 90 day non-compete clause as part of the terms for their departure. It was also reported that the reaction within WWE over New Day’s departure was one of shock with many assuming they would be WWE lifers, especially Kingston.
The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported that his sources stated that the New Day’s departure was due to their decision to leave based on what TKO was offering for a new deal. Alvarez reported that TKO had asked for Kingston and Woods to restructure their deal and both did not like the new deals that were being offered and requested their releases which were granted.
Prior to their departures, Kingston had been with WWE since September of 2006, Woods had been with WWE since July of 2010, and Mateo had been with WWE since May of 2025. Loa had been with WWE since May of 2024 following a previous stint from February of 2009 to June of 2014.
