John Cena’s Big Announcement Being “John Cena Classic” Tournament & Fans To Vote on Champion

Saturday’s WWE Backlash 2026 event also featured John Cena revealing his big “history making news” that would “shake WWE down to its foundation” being the announcement of a brand new tournament called the John Cena Classic.

Cena stated that this tournament will feature main roster talent facing off against NXT talent in matches and the winner of this tournament will receive the Cena Classic Championship.

Unlike other tournaments, Cena stated that the winner of the Cena Classic title will be decided by a fan vote and brought up how even if a superstar loses matches, they could still win the championship if fans vote for them.

It was not stated when this tournament will officially begin but Cena stated that he hopes it becomes an annual tournament for WWE going forward.
