PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources within TNA Wrestling denied recent online rumors of their company being on the market for a potential sale.
This rumor originated from a recent report from Blake Avignon who stated that Anthem CEO and President Len Asper recently set a floor price of $30 million for a potential sale of TNA with a preferred price in the $40-$50 million range. Avignon stated that the reason for the high price tag was due to the “toxic debt” on Anthem’s books that any potential buyer would be expected to absorb for an acquisition of TNA. Avignon also had stated that no deal is immanent based on those spoken to.
Johnson reported that those spoken to within TNA stated that their company is currently not up for sale nor has Anthem been seeking a sale.
Those spoken to within Anthem reportedly denied the rumored price tag amount and stated that it was “undervaluing” TNA as it currently exists.
Johnson reported that those spoken to also denied the rumors and reports that WWE would have right of first refusal to match any offers for the company as part of the terms of the current partnership between both companies.
One source spoken to reportedly stated that they believed the timing of the stories of a sale appeared to be aimed at “hurting the company” as it headed into Slammiversary 2026. This same source reportedly also bemoaned the fact that “a social media account with no track record or real following threw out grandiose statements and everyone parroted it for no reason other than to grab attention for themselves.”
Those spoken to reportedly also pointed out that Anthem turned down Scott D’Amore when he offered to buy the company in 2024.
