AEW Dynamite kicks off with highlights of last week’s show.

Earlier today, we see Will Ospreay training hard backstage throwing forearms on a heavy bag as Daniel Garcia, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta are yelling at him to continue. Jon Moxley walks in and saying quit playing grab ass, it’s game time. He doesn’t care what Hall of Fame Cope & Cage belong to, you go out there and get it done. Garcia & Yuta depart as Moxley tells Ospreay the important work is done, but the last steps are the critical ones. People make simple things so complicated, they see the target and finish line, but hesitate. Ospreay earned this and there will be a time where he has to make a difficult decision. That time will come, but his dream is not one of those, this is simple, you take the shot, don’t hesitate, pull the trigger, no matter who the target is. Moxley leaves and Ospreay continues to violently smash the heavy bag. This was really good, as that line from Moxley on no matter who the target is you have to imagine will come into play at some point down the line.

Death Riders (Daniel Garcia & Wheeler Yuta) vs. Cage & Cope (Christian Cage & Adam Copeland) (c)

The bell rings and we are under way. Cope and Yuta start the match. Copa throws Yuta to the ropes and Copa with a knee to the face. Cage is tagged in and they throw Yuta to the ropes but Yuta holds onto the ropes. Garcia is tagged in. Garcia goes for a right hand but Cage with right hands. Cope is tagged in and they double team Garcia. Cope with a chop to the chest. Copa gets on the ring apron and he hits Yuta down. Garcia distracts the referee and Yuta trips Cope. They double team Cope on the outside of the ring.

Back from commercial, Cope with a body slam onto Garcia. Yuta and Cage are tagged in. Cage right hands. He climbs the top rope and lands a headbutt. He goes for the cover but Yuta kicks out. Cope and Garcia get in the ring but Cope with a clothesline and both men to the outside of the ring. Garcia with a German suplex on Cage. He goes for the cover but Cage kicks out. Yuta gets in the ring and he distracts the referee. Cage with a low blow onto Garcia and in comes Cope. He hits Garcia with a spear. Cope goes for the cover and gets the pin.

Winner: Cage & Cope via Pinfall to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

We see the Young Bucks watching from the crowd. Claudio Castagnoli and The Dogs attack Cage and Cope after the match. They hit them with right hands but out come Bang Bang Gang as Claudio and The Dogs leave the ring.

Video: Hikaru Shida, Harley Cameron, Queen Aminata

Footage of Hikaru Shida defeating Harley Cameron on Collision was shown to retain the TBS Title and the post-match attack on Cameron that we’re told has put her on the shelf indefinitely. Shida will defend against Queen Aminata this Saturday.

Video: Andrade El Idolo

Video package of Andrade El Idolo is shown on a yacht with a lady by his side, saying being champion is his destiny. How You Know? Soon, you will.

Backstage: Andrade El Idolo

We then go backstage to Renee Paquette with Andrade, who said he’ll fight every member of the Callis Family and take every title from them, he will. His destiny is to become AEW World Champion. Paquette reminds him how many members of the Family there are and he pulls out a box containing MJF’s Dynamite Diamond Ring. He said he has a good friend and Paquette asks if that friend is Will Ospreay? Andrade simply says (say it with me) How You Know?

Backstage: The Conglomeration, The Demand

Renee Paquette is backstage with The Conglomeration saying there’s plenty of teams wanting the Trios Titles and Roderick Strong asked where are they? Orange Cassidy said now would be a perfect time for someone to walk in and challenge them. Right on cue, The Demand walks in, saying it’s time to take those titles from those backpacks. Before anything else can happen, The Conglomeration is attacked by The Lethal Twist. Ricochet said he promised to not lay a hand on the champs until they’re ready, but The Lethal Twist aren’t in The Demand…yet.

Jake Doyle vs. Andrade El Idolo

The bell rings and we are under way. Doyle throws Andrade to the outside of the ring. He hits him with right hands and throws Andrade back into the ring. He runs towards Andrade but Andrade with a boot to the face. Andrade with a hurricanrana and Doyle to the outside of the ring. Andrade on the ring apron and he lands a hurricanrana.

Back from commercial, Andrade with a clothesline and Doyle is down in the corner. Andrade goes for the double knees but Doyle with a shoulder tackle. Doyle goes for a splash but Andrade moves out of the way. Doyle rolls to the outside of the rope and Andrade climbs the second rope. He lands a moon sault to the outside of the ring. Andrade throws Doyle back into the ring. Andrade gets in the ring but Doyle with a power bomb. He goes for the cover but Andrade kicks out. Doyle grabs Andrade but Andrade with two suplexes and he lands the third suplex. He goes for the cover but Doyle kicks out. Andrade with the double knees. He goes for the cover but Doyle kicks out. Andrade climbs the top rope and he jumps but Doyle with a right hand. Doyle with an elbow to the face. He goes for the cover but Andrade kicks out. Doyle throws Andrade to the ropes, Andrade with a crucifix cover but Doyle kicks out. Andrade with a spinning elbow followed by a double underhook. He goes for the cover and gets the win.

Winner: Andrade El Idolo via Pinfall.

In-Ring: Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Will Ospreay, “The Jet” Kevin Knight, Darby Allin, Don Callis Family, Death Riders

Back from commercial, Tony Schiavone is in the ring. There’s a red carpet in the ring and he introduces the new AEW World Champion Kenny Omega to the ring. Omega’s music hits and out he comes. As he is about to speak, out come the Young Bucks and they are carrying something in a gold bag.

They tell Omega that they have been best friends in this business for nearly 20 years. They tell him that last week they saw him do it all by himself. They tell him that they are proud of him and he proved that he is still the best professional wrestler on the planet. But him wearing that particular belt peeves them and they brought him something.

They take out the AEW title belt and Omega takes out the BBB title belt.

Omega says unbelievable, it has been 1100 some days. It has been so long that he wasn’t even sure if he would be able to hold the title ever again. He says the difference maker was that his friends, his family and the fans believing in him. He says if it wasn’t for them believing in him, he would have given up on himself a long time ago. He says there is less than 50 days remaining until Wembley stadium. And as much as he would like to say that he is ready, there is still a lot of work to do. He says in 50 days, they will see the best version of Kenny Omega that they ever saw.

Out comes Will Ospreay to the ring. He asks the Young Bucks if he can have a one on one conversation with Omega. The Young Bucks leave the ring. Ospreay asks the fans if he can speak on their behalf. He says it is really good to see Kenny Omega as the AEW World Champion again. He says at one point, he thought Omega had given up on himself. He says Omega needed to believe in him, he needed to believe that he can still be Kenny Omega. He says Omega never gave up and he saw him get hit with the belt. Ospreay says he thought Omega was going to lose but Omega kicked out. He says Omega is back, one of the greatest to ever do it is back. He says for 10 years, Omega was his hero, he got to watch him wrestle, he has inspired him to be the best wrestler he can ever be and he thanks Omega for that. Ospreay tells him that he is not happy with being second but they are going to keep it going, every week, they will be out there showing everyone why they are in the position that they are in. He says this is a dream come true. They are about to shake hands but out comes Kevin Knight.

He tells Ospreay that he and Omega have to talk about something, champion to champion. Omega says Ospreay can stay. Knight tells Omega congratulations but the jet still has a world title shot courtesy of Maxwell Jacob Fraudman. He says the jet is ready to become jet two belts. He challenges Omega to a match at Redemption for the AEW World title.

Omega tells Knight that MJF made a promise to Knight. He asks him why he would give him a title match if it was MJF that promised one. He says they are not going to do that but maybe he will give him a shot because he is a nice guy, because the first day he saw Knight, he saw something special, he saw someone that had it, that undeniable factor that only a superstar possesses, someone that looks the part, someone faster than anyone else, someone that can jump higher than anyone else and someone that was hungry. But that’s where it ended because he went and aligned himself with Don Callis. He says he would be a hypocrite if he told everyone that he didn’t believe in him too. He says it was because of Don Callis that he held the title for the first time. He says it was during Corona when they were all told to stay indoors. And when no one showed up to the party, he thought it was because no one could but the reality is no one believe in that guy, no one was proud of that guy. He says that was the day where his worth, his self worth fell right down the toilet. He tells Knight that he does not need a guy like Don. He tells Knight that when he says he believes in him, he is saying the same words that Speedball believes, the same things that Will Ospreay believes and when he says he doesn’t have to be Don’s lap dog. He says he can be the champion without Callis. He says one thing that MJF was not was a fraud. He says the only fraud he is looking at is Knight because he knows that Knight knows he is not being himself.

He says if it will be them at Redemption, he wants it to be the Jet at Redemption, not Don’s little bitch.

Knight says that Omega made a good point when he said that he came all the way by himself. He says there is no goodness in his heart, only greatness. He hits Omega with the microphone. Ospreay goes for the hidden blade but Knight leaves the ring. Darby Allen runs and hits Knight from behind.

Backstage: Jungle Jack Perry

Jungle Jack Perry is backstage and said he put pen to paper on Chapter 2 of his AEW career, as Chapter 1 saw him coming close to breaking through. This Saturday, he’s issuing a challenge to anyone who thinks they’re in the same shoes as he was, someone who wants to show what the future of pro wrestling is all about. We see Luchasaurus holding a boom mic, as Perry walked away.

Brodido (Brody King & Bandido) vs. Aaron Solo & Nick Comoroto

The bell rings and we are under way. Bandido and Solo to start but Comoroto is tagged in. Nick with a military press. In comes Brody with an electric chair and he places Bandido onto Comoroto for the cover but Solo breaks it up. Bandido with chops to the chest. A back suplex from King and he throws Comoroto onto Solo. Bandido with a splash onto Solo. Brodido goes for the cover and gets the pin.

Winner: Brodido via Pinfall.

Backstage: Kyle Fletcher, Don Callis. Brodido

Renee Paquette is backstage with Kyle Fletcher & Don Callis, but are ran into (literally) by Brodido, who put a Most Wanted poster to Fletcher’s chest before walking off.

AEW International Championship
Komander vs. Kyle Fletcher (c)

The bell rings and we are under way. Don Callis is on commentary. Komander with kicks and he goes for the cover but Fletcher kicks out. Fletcher is thrown to the outside of the ring, Komander goes for a drive but Fletcher moves out of the way. Fletcher throws him face first onto the ring apron. Fletcher throws Komander back into the ring.

Back from commercial, Komander with a 450 splash. He goes for the cover but Fletcher kicks out. Komander climbs the top rope but Fletcher trips him up and he lands a piledriver. He goes for the cover but Komander kicks out. Fletcher with a Michinoku driver and he goes for the cover but Komander kicks out. Fletcher with a brainbuster. He goes for the cover and gets the pin.

Winner: Kyle Fletcher via Pinfall to retain the AEW International Championship.

After the match, Fletcher tries to take the mask off Komander but out comes Konosuke Takeshita. He hits Fletcher and out comes Kazuchika Okada. He hits Takeshita with the Rainmaker. Okada and Fletcher fight over the belt but out comes Bandido with a double drop kick onto them.

Backstage: Kenny Omega, Darby Allin, Jon Moxley

Renee Paquette is backstage with Kenny Omega. As he is about to speak, in comes Darby Allen. He tells Omega that Knight won’t change overnight but next week, eh will take the TNT title. Knight walks away and in comes Moxley. He tells Omega that Allen is right and he walks away.

Ringside: The Brawling Birds

Renee Paquette welcomes us back on stage and introduces The Brawling Birds. Jamie Hayter asks Boston if they care for a couple words from The Birds? Alex Windsor said if anyone knows about drinking and fighting, it’s Boston. They’re crushed by the World Cup results from earlier today, but fear not, these Brits with the Tits won’t let you down. Wembley is in their sights, so close they can taste it. They will beat the piss out of anyone to prove they’re the best team in AEW. They said let’s go get pissed, first round is on them, as they head out with Paquette.

Backstage: Chris Jericho, Tommaso Ciampa

Jericho is backstage in a dark room and issues a challenge to Ciampa at Redemption. Ciampa brings the pain, Jericho will bring the Painmaker. Hell is coming for Ciampa. We then go to Ciampa, who said Tommaso Ciampa is better than Chris Jericho, they’ll find out at Redemption if The Painmaker if better than The Psycho Killer. Before they get there, he’s got one more night in his hometown. Ciampa issues a challenge to anyone on Collision, saying he hopes Jericho is watching, welcome to the City of Champions, the City of Ciampa.

Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage

The bell rings and we are under way. Cage throws Darby to the outside of the ring and into the barricade. He lifts Darby Allin onto the ring ramp and into the ring. Cage stands on the second rope and he lifts Darby Allin up, he suplexes Darby Allin onto the ring ramp.

Back from commercial, Allin with a drop kick onto Cage on the outside of the ring. Allin with the Coffin Drop onto Cage. He throws Cage back into the ring. Allin climbs the top rope but Cage with right hands. Cage gets on the second rope but Allin bites him. Allin with a sunset flip cover but Cage kicks out. Both men roll to the outside of the ring and Cage with a clothesline. He lifts Allin up and throws him into the ring post. Cage climbs the ring steps and grabs Allin but Allin takes his belt off and trips Cage with it. Allin climbs the top rope and lands the Coffin Drop onto Cage on the ring steps. Cage gets back in the ring but Allin with two Coffin Drops. He goes for the cover and gets the pin.

Winner: Darby Allin via Pinfall.

Backstage: Kyle Fletcher, Kazuchika Okada

A pissed off ProtOkada are backstage, as Kyle Fletcher said he’ll defend against anyone and will be the greatest International Champion of all time and he wants Bandido. For the first time ever, he wants The Protostar vs. The Most Wanted at Redemption. Okada stood behind Fletcher and kind of just shrugged his shoulders, not very impressed with Fletcher’s International Title aspirations.

Backstage: “The Jet” Kevin Knight, Don Callis, “Speedball” Mike Bailey

Renee Paquette (the Iron-woman of tonight’s Dynamite as this is her 6th or 7th segment) is backstage with Kevin Knight & Don Callis, who said Knight can handle everything on his plate. Woe is Kenny Omega when Callis gave him the World Title, suck it up, buttercup, everything good Omega has had in life has been because of Callis, who orders Knight to take care of that punk and become Jet-2-Belt. Callis leaves and Speedball Bailey walks in saying the façade Knight is putting on, it’s not working. The fans & Bailey love Knight and ready to forgive him, but Knight said he doesn’t need his love, let him be.

Trios Match
Mercedes Mone & Divine Dominion (Lena Kross & Megan Bayne) vs. Willow Nightingale, Hyan, & Maya World

Boston crowd loudly behind the heel Mone to start, as things broke down early, with Bayne & Kross taking double dropkicks from World & Hyan, but caught both on cross body attempts to deliver stereo Fall Away Slams. World & Hyan still battled back and tagged in Nightingale, who was loudly cheered, as she missed the first enzugiri attempt, connecting on the second. Fast tags from the babyfaces, who hit locomotion corner strikes on Kross, as Hyan & World hit an assisted head scissors into a cannonball in the corner. Mone tried to step in, but was dumped outside onto her partner, where a trifecta of somersault sentons delivered to the heels as things went to commercial 10 minutes past the top of the hour. I need to point out that it’s late in the show and we’re in break, so Taz brought up Hyan’s brother “High-Off” and sent the entire commentary desk into giggle fits.

World was worked over a majority of break, as we got a double lungblower/double German on World & Hyan from Mone & Bayne. Mone missed a corner Meteora, wanted a suplex, but had it reversed by World, as Kross made the tag and World fought free to tag in Nightingale. House of fire was Nightingale, who wiped out Bayne with a corner splash and boot, Mone was clipped on the apron, as Nightingale hit a spinebuster on Bayne for two. Match starts breaking down, as Hyan hit a corner boot on Mone, but was taken out by Kross. World flew in to take out Kross, but Bayne saved her partner. Nightingale in with a discus lariat on Bayne for the reset.

Mone & World tag in officially and have a fast sequence, until they trade rolling cradles for near falls. World hits a shotgun dropkick, wanted a suplex, but Mone countered into the Three Amigos, as she went up top for a Frog Splash, but World got the knees up. Kross tags in, World gets an up kick, but there’s a spot where they do a back suplex, but Kross landed rough on her arm and World on her head. Hyan tags in with a dropkick, staggering Kross, who backdropped out of a piledriver. Blind tag by Bayne, as Divine Dominion ramp up the offense with a Bayne release German and Falcon Arrow, doing the deal for a near fall, as Nightingale broke it up. Kross saves her partner and they go for the double chokeslam on Nightingale, who fought them both off, sent Kross crashing outside, ducked a Bayne lariat and hit a huge Pounce. Mone in and launched Nightingale out, as Hyan, who made a blind tag, got a jackknife pin for two and then a brutal Spear folding Mone up for another near fall. Both ladies up, as Mone was able to hit a Mone Maker for the win.

Winner: Mercedes Mone & Divine Dominion via Pinfall.
