Backstage Update on Bayley’s WWE Status & Interest from AEW

This past Saturday’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event show at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York featured Lyra Valkyria defeating Bayley in a singles match and attacked her after the match and attempted to use the steel steps as a weapon before being stopped by WWE officials. Monday’s WWE RAW show featured Valkyria making an appearance during an ad break segment on Netflix and told both Byron Saxton and WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Sol Ruca that she had dropped the dead weight and claimed to have ran Bayley out of WWE.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Bayley’s contract with WWE is currently set to expire at the end of this year if injury time is not added to it. Those spoken to within WWE stated that Bayley has not signed a new deal and the current expectation is that the company would want to retain her.

In regards to a potential move to AEW, it was reported that those spoken to stated that Bayley’s contract situation and potential free agency have been a conversation within AEW for quite some time. It was reported that AEW is currently expected to be heavily interested and to make an attempt for Bayley if she becomes available on the market. It was reported that a number of sources spoken to had been discussing the possibility of Bayley joining AEW for almost a year.

In regards to Bayley’s wrestling career future, one agent spoken to reportedly stated that they believe Bayley should test the free agent market at minimum. This same agent reportedly stated that they also feel that her negotiations could help reshape how top WWE talent approach contract talks moving forward in the company.
