Backstage WWE Reaction to Jungle Jack Perry Re-Signing with AEW

As noted before, Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Beach Break 2026 show in Clearwater, Florida featured the announcement of Jungle Jack Perry re-signing with AEW to stay in the company for the foreseeable future. Prior to the announcement, Perry’s contract with AEW had been set to expire soon.

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported that their sources within WWE stated that WWE officials had little to no internal discussion regarding the possibility of pursing Perry had he entered free agency.

It was reported that the general feeling within WWE was that Perry did not fit in WWE’s current landscape for the reason for the lack of interest.

Perry has been signed with AEW since the company’s founding in January of 2019. Perry had been involved in an infamous backstage physical altercation incident with CM Punk at All In 2023 which led to Perry’s suspension and Punk’s eventual firing from AEW.
