As noted before, WWE ID and WWE EVOLVE talents Marcus Mathers and Chazz “Starboy” Hall were pulled from PRODUCE Wrestling’s upcoming Volume 2: Taigastyle event on July 16 in Jersey, New Jersey due to contractual obligation-related issues with WWE. This was the fifth time since this past June that WWE had WWE ID talents pulled from indies bookings due to similar issues. PRODUCE promoter Adam Abdalla recently claimed that he believes indies talent have been “conned into doing “scabwork” for WWE through their WWE ID program.
The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in Friday’s Daily Update that his sources stated that the reason for the pulled indies bookings for WWE ID talents is due to recent changes WWE made to their WWE EVOLVE tapings schedule.
Meltzer reported that WWE officials recently made the decision to change their WWE EVOLVE tapings schedule from being one day a month to now two days in a row. The addition of new dates reportedly caused WWE ID talents having to be pulled off of some indies booking dates.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that there was a communications issue after the decision was made involving a lot of WWE ID talents not being informed quickly and those talents made indies bookings even after those dates were known within the company but themselves didn’t know about it.
Bryan Alvarez reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Live that those spoken to stated that WWE ID talents are responsible for keeping themselves busy with indies bookings and WWE pushes for those talents to get regular semi high-profile bookings.
Alvarez reported that WWE officials are not telling their WWE ID talents where to work and instead it is all on those talents to secure their bookings.
Alvarez also reported that WWE officials have been cutting talents from their WWE ID deals if they are not working regularly enough and in high-enough places to their satisfaction.
Alvarez also reported that several indies talents spoken to stated that they do not want to sign WWE ID contracts due to it not being beneficial for them for their current wrestling careers.
