Sammy Guevara on His Infrequent AEW TV Appearances & It Not Being His Call For When He Can Return On Regular Basis

MuscleManMalcom held a recent interview with Sammy Guevara. One of the topics discussed included Guevara’s thoughts about when fans can expect to see him back on AEW television on a regular basis again and how that is not his call to make in the company.

“Yeah, no, honestly, man, you know, that’s obviously not my call, but, like, whatever they do decide to call, like, I think the last time I was on AEW was when I wrestled Darby for the world title. I was given, what, a couple hours notice, and I just tried to do the best that I could, you know? So anytime I go out there, I try to give you a show like you’ve never seen before, because that’s what I do. I’m Sammy Guevara, the Spanish God. You know, I think I’m the best, so, yeah.”

Guevara also gave his thoughts about him wrestling in the first ever match on AEW Dynamite in 2019 in AEW history.

“I mean, it’s history. It’s something you dream about as a kid, like being in these big moments. It’s the first time they’re seeing wrestling on the TNT channel for what, 19 years at the time? The fact that like Cody Rhodes versus who, Sammy Guevara? Like, you know, exactly. I mean, that’s what I’m saying. But like at that time, you know, I did AAA, did some Lucha Underground, but like widely, nationally, maybe not as known. So, you know, the fact that I was given that opportunity was big and I just was very happy I was able to live up to the moment, you know?”

Guevara also gave his thoughts about which of his three AEW TNT Championship reigns was his favorite of his AEW career.

“Oh, man. I mean, it’s got to be the first or the second. The third one was like, I guess, I don’t know. The first one, because it’s the most special, (it) is the first one, you know? The third one was like a week, so I didn’t even really get to get into it. Yeah, I think probably the first one just because he was, you know, the first, you know.”
