As noted before, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit in January of 2024 against former WWE/TKO Executive Chairman Vince McMahon accusing McMahon of committing sex trafficking and sexual abuse towards her during her time in the company. Grant filed a new amended lawsuit in February of 2025 detailing new evidence and claims against McMahon, WWE, and others. Grant had filed a memorandum this past April containing additional details in her allegations against McMahon, WWE President Nick Khan, former WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis, Brock Lesnar, and WWE itself. The court approved McMahon, Grant, and WWE request this past June for the lawsuit to be moved out of the public and into private arbitration instead.
The Wrestling Obserber’s Josh Nason reported that a joint status report filed on Monday by Grant’s attorney Ann Callis stated that Grant, McMahon, and WWE have executed an agreement for the lawsuit to officially enter private arbitration.
“Pursuant to the Court’s July 13, 2026 order, ECF No. 151, Plaintiff Janel Grant, Defendant World Wrestling Entertainment, LLC, and Defendant Vincent K. McMahon (together, the “Parties”) jointly report that the Parties have executed an agreement to arbitrate their dispute. Pursuant to that agreement, within five business days, Plaintiff shall execute and cause to be filed a Stipulation of Voluntary Dismissal with Prejudice causing the action to be dismissed in its entirety, as to both remaining defendants, but without prejudice to the Parties’ rights to pursue their claims and defenses in arbitration.”
Nason reported that as a result of the filing, Grant’s lawsuit will be officially dismissed within the next five business days while her claims and defenses against both McMahon and WWE will still be able to be pursued in the private arbitration process.
This lawsuit was stated to being dismissed with prejudice, which means the plaintiff is barred from ever refiling the same claim and lawsuit in the future.
It is currently not known exactly what caused Grant and her legal team to drop their pursuit of a civil trial and be against WWE and McMahon’s attempts for the lawsuit to be moved to private arbitration under the terms of the NDA she had signed with McMahon. Grant and her legal team previously had argued that the NDA was signed under distress and should not be legally binding due to the nature of the allegations being made.
