Backstage Update on WWE’s Current Plans for Zilla Fatu

As noted before, the August 11th WWE NXT show featured former indies talent Zilla Fatu made his official WWE debut for the NXT brand.

Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that Fatu is currently expected to be called up to WWE’s main roster “soon enough.”

WrestleVotes Radio on Figthful Select reported that their sources stated that the vignettes that aired for Fatu at this past Monday’s WWE RAW show was designed to serve as a “soft introduction” for fans who may not be familiar with him and also promote this Sunday’s NXT Heatwave 2026 event.

It was reported that those within WWE currently believe pairing Fatu with his cousins in The Bloodline on the main roster could set Zilla up for long-term success in the company.

Fatu is currently scheduled to be competing in a Fatal Four-way match against Grayson Waller, Cruz Montana, and Tony D’Angelo for the NXT Championship at NXT Heatwave 2026 on August 30 in Edinburg, Texas.
