As noted before, Rebel, real name Tanea Brooks, was diagnosed with terminal ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) this past May. AEW has released a special “Rebel Heart” merchandise with 100% of the profits going to support those affected by ALS. Rebel became an ambassador for the I AM ALS organization this past June. AEW will be holding a special themed “Rebel Heart” episode of AEW Dynamite on September 9 in Athens, Georgia in honor of Rebel and to raise funds for the I AM ALS organization and Team Gleason.
In recent weeks, several AEW talents and personalities have been participating and challenging their co-workers to also participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in support of Rebel. Besides those from AEW, others from within the wrestling world have also participated in the challenge including Nattie, Tyson Kidd, Bayley, and Cody Rhodes from WWE and John Skyler from TNA.
AEW personality and indies talent Brodie Lee Jr. recently participated in the challenge and posted a video on Instagram.
In his video, Skyler accepted the challenge from Nattie and Cody Rhodes and nominated Ricky Saints, Ariel Dominguez, and Joey Janela.
