Jeff Cobb Makes Surprise Return & Joins Unbound Co. at NJPW G1 Climax 2026 Finals

Sunday’s NJPW G1 Climax 2026 Finals event at the Ryugoku Sumo Hall featured Jeff Cobb, former JC Mateo, making his surprise return to New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Following United Empire’s (Great-O-Khan, HENARE, & Callum Newman) victory over Unbound Co. (Yuto-Ice, OSKAR, & Daiki Nagai) in a Six-Man Tag Team match, Yuto-Ice and OSKAR grabbed Great-O-Khan and HENARE’s IWGP Tag Team Championship and posed with it in the ring signaling they wanted to challenge and regain their belts. This led to Most Violent Players (Toru Yano & Togi Makabe) running out and attacked the Knockout Brothers and posed with the IWGP Tag titles revealing they also wanted to go after United Empire’s titles. This then led to Yuto-Ice and OSKAR brawling with Yano and Makabe to the back as Newman attacked Nagai at ringside and tossed him back into the ring. Newman then grabbed a sword and attempted to cut Nagai’s throat before being stopped by Gedo who asked him what he was doing and to calm down or else someone would fix his attitude.

This led to Cobb’s music playing and came out to the ring.

Newman demanded that Cobb “kiss the crown” on his wrist to reunite with United Empire. Cobb responded attacking Newman laying him out and gave the Unbound Co. fist dab to Gedo revealing himself as the newest member of Unbound Co.

This was Cobb’s first appearance in NJPW since April of 2025.
