98 Rock Baltimore held a recent interview with Kris Statlander. One of the topics discussed included Statlander’s thoughts about her background as a stuntwoman and if there are any spots she would not do for her matches.
“I don’t know. I mean, it’s kind of one of those things that, like, I’ll do something unless I’m asked to do something that’s out of my wheelhouse, and then I’m like, maybe not that. But I’m usually pretty down for, especially with the hardcore stuff, I’m usually pretty okay with everything.”
Statlander also gave her thoughts about her belief that herself and Darby Allin are the only two people who have pitched being hit by a car for a spot during a match.
“No, because I had done stunt double training prior to my wrestling. So one of my mom’s favorite thing was showing people me getting hit by cars already before I even started wrestling. So they kind of think it’s funny. I… just said to myself one day, I said, ‘if I could do any job for a week, that’s like my dream job, what would it be?’ I was like, ‘oh, I think being a stunt double would be like the coolest thing ever.’ Then I looked into how to do it and I trained for it. I was a gymnast so I was used to kind of like high-flying adrenaline stuff. Actually, fun fact, since you mentioned Darby, I think Darby and I are the only two people that have ever pitched getting hit by a car for a match. We’ll see what happens, who’s going to get to run into traffic.”
Statlander also gave her thoughts about her lack of facial scarring and how she is “actually very upset” about how little she has considering her fondness for hardcore and rough spots in her matches.
“I know. I’m actually very upset about that. I’ve never had a black eye. I don’t really have any scars on my face, and I love scars. I do want a scar. I have a small scar on my lip because I did a power slam, and my face hit the girl’s cheekbone, and my lip ring… didn’t get ripped out. It went down and split my lip that wat. That was only one stitch so and the lip ring covers as you can’t even see it. I do have a very tiny scar on my forehead like right in the middle. Yeah, it’s really small it was when I first started training I was a lot weaker than I was now and I was learning up-and-overs and I went too far forward and I bashed my face open on the post and I like hard weighed myself andI was like three weeks into training, but then I just put a Band-Aid on my head and I went right back.”
