Kyle Fletcher on Him Being Excited Over Thought Of Another Match With Ilja Dragunov

The Sportster held a recent interview with AEW International Champion Kyle Fletcher. One of the topics discussed included Fletcher’s thoughts about the possibility of him having another match with Ilja Dragunov following Dragunov’s recent departure from WWE.

“It feels way too early to speculate. For me, I think Ilja is incredible. He brings this raw passion that you don’t get very often in pro wrestling. It’s something that I feel I have now gotten to a point where when I’m in the ring, I feel that passion, and when I get in there with someone else who has that same passion for pro wrestling, that’s where magic happens. There’s been many people I’ve gotten in the ring that I have that feeling, and I know that Ilja is one of those people, and the thought of another match between us after everything that’s happened excites me very much.”

Fletcher last wrestled Dragunov in 2019 for PROGRESS Wrestling.

Fletcher also gave his thoughts about his upcoming match against Amazing Red at House of Glory’s Fall Out 2026 event and getting to compete against Red for the first time in his wrestling career.

“It is absolutely my first time facing Amazing Red. There was one occasion I believe, I wanna say Mania weekend 2019 where I was booked in a six-man tag and he was supposed to be on the other side but had to pull out. Yeah, when I knew I was going to have a chance to get in the ring with Amazing Red then, I was like, oh my god, that’s so cool. Now, I’ve been afforded the opportunity to get in the ring with somebody who is a generational talent, somebody that was a legend before I even put on my first pair of wrestling boots. I am very excited to test myself against someone from a different era and different generation. His experience in wrestling is so very different to mine and I’m just looking to see how those styles clash. I think it’ll be a lot of fun for me.”
