Mistico on His Main Goal of Wanting To Cement Himself As A Worldwide Legend By The Time He Retires, His Current Goal of Conquering AEW & Competing For AEW World Title, & Him Representing CMLL At Forbidden Door Has Been “Wonderful”

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer held a recent interview with Mistico in Mexico. One of the topics discussed included Mistico’s thoughts about how it feels to know young kids in Mexico will grow up idolozing him and his main goal for his wrestling career of wanting to cement himself as a worldwide wrestling legend by the time he retires. A translator who was with Mistico translated his responses into English during the interview.

“He hears the names you mentioned, and of course he wants to be a legend like them, but he’s taking care of his body, he’s been taking care of his health, and he plans to keep going on for a bit while at least, and with that he wants big opportunities in Japan, he wants big opportunities in AEW, Because if Mistico is a legend right now, he wants to cement himself as a worldwide legend by the time he’s gone.”

Mistico also gave his thoughts about his current goal for his wrestling career being him “conquering” AEW and competing for the AEW World Championship in the future.

“So for Mistico right now, obviously it’s about conquering the United States that has the eyes of the world when it comes to wrestling, and by that he means conquering AEW. He would love to have a chance at the AEW World Heavyweight title. He says people like Moxley, people like Ospreay, people like MJF. He’s beaten a few names in that list, and he would love to have that opportunity to have to be a part of a world heavyweight title match in AEW, and why not conquer AEW after proving everything he’s done here in Mexico and around the world.”

Mistico also gave his thoughts about him competing at AEW and NJPW’s co-promoted Forbidden Door events and him representing CMLL at the shows.

“It was wonderful that everybody involved in that match, it was a dream for the whole, like every team, to be sharing a ring, and the same way that he wrestled MJF here in Grand Slam and then in the Aniversario with a five-star match, that’s the opportunities he’s looking for. That’s what he wants. It’s not about wrestling one person. It’s about getting the opportunity to wrestle Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, like in one-on-ones, to have that opportunity to prove that every Mistico match can be a five-star match with the right opponent and with the right time and place.”
