ROH Women’s World Championship Proving Ground Match
Gia Scott vs. Athena (c)

This was contested under the 10-minute Proving Ground rules.

The bell rang on our match as Gia used her size to tower above her with her hand high above Athena. The ROH Women’s World Champion responded aggressively and attacked Gia with punches, followed by the Samoan Drop on her foe. Athena approached the apron and clubbed Gia in the back of her head, as she then hit her with the knee to the side of the head. In the ring, Gia blocked an Irish whip attempt and countered the DDT from Athena. Gia then hit Athena with the big boot, followed by the standing Black Hole Slam for the near-fall.

Gia lifted Athena up for a Firewoman’s Carry, but Athena blocked it and hit her with a strike. She then delivered the Super Dragon Stomp to the mat to pick up the academic victory.

Winner: Athena via Pinfall.

Not content with the win, Athena attacked Gia some more after the match as she addressed Hazuki by stating that she was going to set a real example on her. Athena then placed the ROH World Title on the mat and hit another Super Dragon Stomp to Gia onto it.

Preston Vance vs. Danny Grandview

The newly repatriated member of the Dark Order (despite John Silver’s protestations) started this match by offering a Code of Honor Handshake. Grandview chose instead to hit Vance with a kick to the gut. Vance recovered immediately and shelled Grandview with clotheslines, then a boot in the corner. Grandview went for a run from the ropes and got crushed with a spinebuster. One spinning lariat later and Vance got the pin and win.

Winner: Preston Vance via Pinfall.

After the match, Evil Uno & Alex Reynolds made their way to the ring for their match.

Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & Evil Uno) vs. HOOK & Action Andretti

Uno and Andretti got it going for this tag match. Andretti avoided a punch from Uno and taunted from the turnbuckle. Andretti hit Uno with a kick the gut, but was met with a little misdirection from the Dark Order head. Side headlock countered by Uno, as he sent Andretti down to the mat with a shoulder tackle. Reynolds tagged in and hit Andretti with a jumping knee.

Andretti countered a Reynolds scoop slam with a rake of the eyes as he put him in his corner. HOOK entered the match and struck Reynolds with the punch to the gut. Reynolds countered HOOK’s hip toss into an abdominal stretch, but that got turned into a counter hiptoss not long after. Reynolds responded with a nice jumping knee to the face of HOOK. The cover, but not the three. Jawbreaker by HOOK allowed for a cheapshot from Andretti with the ref’s back turned. HOOK took down Reynolds and delievered the gutwrench back suplex as Andretti re-entered the match.

Andretti’s punch was countered into a backslide pin from Reynolds, but that wasn’t enough. Andretti dropped down hit the pumphandle Sidewinder slam on Reynolds. One, two… no dice. HOOK and Andretti continued to isolate Reynolds from Evil Uno, holding the clear advantage, but Reynolds began to fight out of enemy territory. HOOK tried to stop Reynolds from tagging Uno, and was able to do so successfully. Reynolds missed with the crossbody as HOOK worked over him with strikes to the chest, followed by a hip toss and a bridging Northern Lights Suplex. The pin, but Uno broke up the count. Reynolds got ahead of an attempted Andretti and HOOK double team by sending the former into the latter, which allowed for an Evil Uno hot tag.

The mastermind behind Mystery Wrestling was on fire as he held his own against both HOOK and Andretti. The double-play DDT from Uno on Andretti and HOOK was followed by the ushigoroshi on the former for a near-fall. Reynolds taggged in and looked for a double team, but Andretti looked to dominate. Andretti hit the handspring kick on Uno on the apron, as Reynolds tried to roll him up. HOOK got behind Reynolds and locked in the Redrum Katahajime hold to choke him out. As HOOK wasn’t the legal man, it came down to Andretti to get the pin off the springboard 450 Splash.

Winner: HOOK & Action Andretti via Pinfall.

We got a video package for Action Andretti vs. Lio Rush, which takes place as a Fight Without Honor for the ROH World Television Championship tomorrow night.

Alec Price vs. Daniel Garcia

Code of Honor handshake followed by a technical stalemate start between Price and Garcia. Arm wrench held on tightly by Garcia, but Price ran around in a circle before he used the ropes to get out of it and turn it into a springboard armdrag. Price then caught Garcia with the springboard crossbody. Price looked to keep the momentum going, but Garcia pushed him off the top rope to the outside. Garcia remained relentless and hit a swinging neckbreaker onto the mat outside. After trashtalking a fan at ringside, Garcia hit Price with a sliding clothesline as he then applied a chinlock on him. Price tried to escape, but that only allowed for Garcia to force him into the corner. Punches in the corner, but no tenth punch. That gave Price a bit of time to fight back. Garcia shut that down and hit three rolling clotheslines to the corner. Price avoided a fourth clothesline attempt and hit a pop-up dropkick to create some separation.

Price began his comeback with a nice dodge as he got some nice speed before he hit a running clothesline on Garcia. Big running knee into the corner by Price was so nice, he got it twice on Garcia. Price took too long to showboat and got caught in a sleeper from Garcia. On the ground, Garcia caught Price on the sleeper, but couldn’t capitalize. Pop-up uppercut from Garcia was followed by a missed Shining Wizard. Price rebounded with another clothesline that left both men down and out. Both Garcia and Price got themselves to their feet amidst the barbs thrown at one another as the forearms soon came. Neither man got the best of their opponent until Price threw Garcia out of the ring and hit a big splash over the top rope.

Springboard Blockbuster by Price only got a near-fall as Garcia managed to kick out. Price headed to the apron, but his springboard attack was met by an elbow from Garcia. Stacking pin from Price couldn’t get the three, as Garcia responded with a sleeper hold. Price tried to escape, but he couldn’t. That led to the spike piledriver from Garcia and the three.

Winner: Daniel Garcia via Pinfall.

After the match, Garcia shook Price’s hand and teased going after ring announcer Bobby Cruise before he left.

ROH World Television Championship Proving Ground Match
Joe Keys vs. “Blackheart” Lio Rush (c)

As is customary with Proving Ground matches, the ten-minute time limit in full effect here.

Lio got a great ovation from the crowd as Keys awkwardly tried to shake the hands of his opponent. Keys took it and rolled through instead. Lio then hit the low basement kick, followed by the rolling kick to send Keys out of the ring. Lio remained aggressive and hit the suicide dive between the ropes to Keys on the outside.

Lio hit Keys with a clothesline to Keys, followed by the cutter, the stunner, and his submission hold to pick up the win.

Winner: “Blackheart” Lio Rush via Submission.

After the match, Lio refused to let go as Action Andretti struck after the match. Andretti took “Shadow” (Lio Rush’s ROH World Television Championship) and hit Keys with it. Lio dodged Andretti’s attack and struck him with the speak. Lio pulled a barbed wire covered chair and threatened to use it on Andretti. The challenger rolled out of the ring to escape a grisly fate, one that he might not escape tomorrow night in Philadelphia.

The imposing Leigh got the advantage, but a missed senton allowed for Mina to get back into things. Mina slid underneath a Leigh clothesline and played to the crowd. Mina dropped Leih across the top rope as she then hit the rope-assisted tornillo. Aminata with the tag. Aminata hit the “Kiss Train” on Leigh, as Brittany soon found herself caught in a two-fer after getting involved.

Aminata trapped Leigh in a leg-based arm submission, but Brittany broke it up. This allowed Leigh to get back into it with strikes in the corner. Leigh and Brittany with a nice double team on Aminata, as the resthold was applied by the latter on Aminata. That got turned into an inside cradle that allowed the hot tag to Mina to happen.

Mina headed up top and hit the dropkick on Brittany, followed by the Slingblade. Brittany countered with a facebreaker as the big women on each team tagged in. Leigh found herself trapped between a rock and a hard place with strikes from Mina and Aminata. The top rope move from Aminata couldn’t get the wina s Brittany broke up the count. Snapmare by Wayne on Oliver was then followed by the grounded modified abdominal stretch. Oliver managed to fight his way out of it as he struck Wayne with big rights to the face. Video: Nigel McGuinness

We got a clip from last night’s Dynamite where we found out that Nigel McGuinness will no longer be able to compete in the ROH Pure Championship Match against Lee Moriarty tomorrow, which led to this bonus match. However, McGuinness’s Continental Cup run will continue.

Pure Rules Match
Katsuyori Shibata vs. Wheeler Yuta

The winner is set to face Moriarty in lieu of McGuinness tomorrow, and is contested under Pure Rules.

Code of Honor not adhered to as the match got underway with a technical start from both Yuta and Shibata. Yuta forced Shibata into the corner and got him to use his first of three rope breaks. Shibata answered right away with a figure-four submission. That forced Yuta to exhaust his first rope break. Shibata remained aggressive and locked in the sleeper on Yuta. Again, Yuta went to the ropes to leave him with only one rope break left. Standing switch duel led to Shibata going to the rope for his second rope break. That was then followed by Yuta hitting a closed fist on Shibata, which earned him a warning, but gave him the advantage with the DDT afterwards.

Yuta kept momentum on his side with the elbow to Shibata, but The Wrestler tried to fight back with some shots to the face. Yuta then bounced back with a slam to Shibata as the clock reached four minutes. In the corner, Yuta got Shibata with two running splashes, but was met with the big running boot on the other side. Shibata then got a nice floating dropkick on Yuta, with the snap suplex soon after. The cover, but Yuta kicked out not one, not twice, but thrice. Shibata unloaded with the chops to the chest of Yuta, as the two then got into an exchange of forearms. Yuta went for a rebounding strike, but he was caught by Shibata, which caused the final rope break to be wasted by Yuta. Shibata then hit the suplex on the apron and at ringside.

Snapmare by Shibata, but he swung and missed with the PK. Open hand strike from Shibata as Yuta was locked into the sleeper hold. Ropebreak to no avail, as Shibata then dragged Yuta into the Cobra Twist for the submission win.

Winner: Katsuyori Shibata via Submission.

Tornado Tag Match
Marina Shafir & Skye Blue vs. Red Velvet & Zayda Steel

We started things off hot with all four women fighitng it out as this was Tornado Rules. In the ring, Skye got hit with a kick to the face by Red Velvet. Superkick by Skye left Velvet stunned, as Steel got in the way of a run across the ropes. Shafir pulled Steel down, but Skye got shoved into Shafir, with the action still unfolding in the ring.

Steel got her turn and hit a facebreaker on Skye, which allowed her and Velvet to get a double suplex on her. The cover, but Shafir came in and broke up the count. Shafir threw Velvet into the ring post before she worked over Steel in the corner with a foot to the face of her opponent. Steel blocked the Irish whip and looked for a crucifix, as Skye clocked her with the kendo stick. With the precision of Pete Crow-Armstrong, Skye struck Velvet and Steel with the kendo stick as Marina Shafir scoop slammed Velvet onto a downed Steel.

Skye and Shafir pulled out a table from underneath the ring and got it set up together. Christopher Daniels tried to get involved by removing the table, but that got him a superkick from Skye, followed by Mother’s Milk from Shafir. That gave Steel and Velvet enough time to rock Skye and Shafir with stereo suicide dives. That was followed by stereo Thesz Presses inside the ring. Some great chemistry from Velvet and Steel as they got their attacks in the corner. Malfunction at the junction as Skye and Shafir got one another with running kicks, that led to the casadora pins from Velvet and Steel, but no dice.

Steel channeled her inner Carter Holt with some kendo strikes, but that led to her being trapped by the basketball warmup running attacks from Skye and Shafir. Velvet intervened with the frying pan to both Skye and Shafir, but the latter fought back. Front facelock by Skye, but Velvet got her with the spinning kick as all four women were down in the ring. Everyone struggled to their feet and traded elbow shots to the face. Skye and Steel got one another with symmetrical boots to the face, as Shafir and Velvet mixed it up. Open-hand strike from Velvet sent Shafir into the apron. Shafir looked for a suplex on the apron, but Velvet blocked it. Velvet went for two running big boots to knock Shafir through the table, but she couldn’t get it done. Shafir caught Velvet on the last attempt and looked for a suplex. Shafir finally made no mistake with the back suplex through the table to take Velvet out of commission.

Inside the ring, Steel rolled up Skye, but couldn’t get the three. Backslide pin by Skye turned into knee to the face. That was followed by an impressive looking Code Blue for the three.

Winner: Marina Shafir & Skye Blue via Pinfall.

After the match, Skye battered Steel as Shafir broguth Velvet into the ring. Skye and Shafir continued the brutal attack as the former tried to pick up the ROH Women’s World Television Championship. Shafir also picked it up and stared one another down.
