As noted before, Nigel McGuinness suffered a foot injury during his match against Katsuyori Shibata for the First Round of the AEW Continental Challenge Cup tournament. McGuinness status for both the remainder of the tournament and his match against Lee Moriarty for the ROH Pure Championship at this Friday’s ROH Death Before Dishonor 2026 event was in doubt at the time. McGuinness had provided an update this past Monday revealing that he did not suffer a broken or fractured foot and would try to continue to compete in both the tournament and his scheduled match at Death Before Dishonor.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that McGuinness will no longer be competing at this Friday’s ROH Death Before Dishonor event.
Johnson reported that McGuinness will be replaced by either Wheeler Yuta or Katsyuori Shibata for his scheduled match against Moriarty for the ROH Pure title.
