Will Ospreay on Him Having A “Mission” For AEW All In 2026 Ticket Sales, If He Ever Talked With WWE, WWE’s Style Being Very Minimalistic and Him Preferring What We Do In AEW, & CM Punk and Jack Perry’s Backstage Confrontation Incident at All In 2023

A recent episode of The Ariel Helwani Show featured Will Ospreay as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Ospreay’s thoughts about him having the goal or mission of 50,000 tickets for this year’s AEW All In event being something that he really wants to make happen.

“My mission, honestly, I really want to try and get it to 50 [thousand]. Like, I think if I can get it to 50, I can really give myself a pat on the back. It’s already the most amount of people that I’ve ever performed in a main event in front of. I need to do some clarification on it, but I think it’s the same with Kenny as well. I think that’s a real cool poetic thing between us. Because it’s always — in storyline — he’s always looked down on me, like I was never on Kenny Omega’s level. But it took both of us to be able to reach that number, which is great and it’s amazing.

I’m super determined to do everything I can. I know I’m doing a couple media rounds and I’m doing some big interviews coming up soon. So I’m hoping that I can talk the public into coming over and just putting it over 50.”

Ospreay also gave his thoughts about if he ever spoke with WWE in 2024 prior to his signing with AEW.

“Representatives did. They were interested, for sure. There was an offer, and a really lovely offer, but it involved me moving to the States, and I have no ambition to move over there.”

Ospreay also gave his thoughts about if he would have signed with WWE if they didn’t require him to move to the United States and how he still wouldn’t due to his issues with the overall style of WWE.

“I do respect it, I really do, but I don’t like the way it’s filmed, I don’t like the wrestling behind it, I think it’s very minimalistic. I’ll never say never, because that’s what we do to make sure we keep all our options open, but right now, with the format and how much fun I’m having in AEW and how much freedom I have to be me, I don’t have anyone putting a script in my hand.

The comparison in our main event matches is very different. One spear for them will be super satisfying. Honestly, I respect it. I wish I could get a positive [reaction] with that. I wish I could. It’s just not in me. I prefer what we do. I prefer taking people on rides and showing people different ways I can get into a Styles Clash and the full contact of it. I’ve been seeing WWE recently, and I saw this one clip and the girl missed her by a country mile. It’s not just the girls, it’s the guys as well. I do wonder if they’re being told, ‘We’re already making money, you don’t need to kill one another.’ I’m not saying everyone kills each other in AEW, but there is more contact, and I like that. I like to feel alive when I do pro wrestling. I don’t want people to whiff a strike on me. I’d much rather people hit me than it look bad on TV.”

Ospreay also gave his thoughts about how the overall vibes in AEW have changed since the backstage confrontation incident between CM Punk and Jack Perry at All In 2023 in 2023.

“I can’t comment that much because I wasn’t there (in 2022). I was there at the Punk and Jack Perry thing. I was going over the match in my head, and I sat there thinking, ‘I need to get this right and this right.’ I heard a commotion, and I thought they were cutting a promo. I got out of dodge, and I saw Punk go past me and was like, ‘Oh no. I know exactly what that means.’ It was funny because it was one of those things where, you obviously read shit on the internet, but to see it happen in front of you, it was like, ‘Oh, that’s lame. Every time I’ve come here it’s been super enjoyable.’”
