Drew McIntyre WWE Abscense & Return Plans Update
As noted before, Drew McIntyre has been absent from WWE since this past April’s WrestleMania 42 event due to his filming commitments for the upcoming Highlander reboot film. During his time away, McIntyre also joined the cast of the upcoming new The Last Druid film and has been involved in the filming for it as well. Filming for The Last Druid film was completed earlier this month.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that McIntyre is back in the United States after filming the upcoming new Highlander reboot and The Last Druid films.
Johnson reported that those spoken to stated that there is currently no active creative discussions within WWE regarding McIntyre’s return to WWE television at the moment.

WWE had filed a trademark for this term on June 26.
Adam Pearce Comments on Him Having No Interest In Potential In-Ring Return Following Nick Aldis In-Ring Return at SummerSlam 2026
A recent episode of the Super Cool Radio podcast featured WWE RAW General Manager Adam Pearce as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Pearce’s thoughts about how his and Nick Aldis’ wrestling careers mirrored each other and Aldis’ match against Gunther at WWE’s SummerSlam 2026 event earlier this month.
“I have a long history with Nick. We have, in a lot of ways, somewhat mirrored our paths to WWE, if you will. I was NWA champion, he was NWA champion. He’s the SmackDown GM, I’m the Raw GM. In a lot of ways, I kind of helped him along in finding that footing into that position.
I know the passion that he has for our industry. I know the path that he’s carved to get where he is today. Like I said, it’s very similar to mine. I know he’s a few years, a lot of years younger than me, and has still some of that fire and drive to get in the ring.
When you are not completely burned out, if you are not ready to be done wrestling, then wrestling will never be done with you. I’m glad he got to scratch that itch, we’ll see if that leads to more matches for Nick, or if that was a one and done.
I know he was pretty fulfilled on that night, win, lose or draw. Yeah, he lost the match, but I think he won the respect of many a wrestling fan that night.”
Pearce also stated that he currently has no interest in following in Aldis’ footsteps for a potential in-ring return in the future but wouldn’t completely rule it out.
“God willing, I will never ever have another professional wrestling match in my life…I am staring into and across and through the fourth wall to every wrestling fan who every day of my life asks me that exact question…. I have no interest in putting on my size 13s, lacing them up, putting on tights…..but I have no interest. I’ll say it again. No interest. But never say never.”
