Backstage Update on AEW’s Potential Plans For Britt Baker

As noted before, this past Sunday’s AEW All In 2026 event at Wembley Stadium in London, England featured Britt Baker making her surprise return. Baker aligned with Persephone after costing Maya World the TBS Championship at the event. This was Baker’s first appearance in AEW since November of 2024.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported in a recent Q&A article that Baker has “a really good chance” of winning either the TBS Championship or the Tag Team Championship within the next six months and depending on her newly formed alliance with current TBS Champion Persephone.

Sapp reported that if Baker’s partnership with Persephone does not last, then she could pursue the TBS Championship on her own but if they continue to work together, Baker may focus on the tag team scene and aim for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship alongside Persephone.

Sapp also reported that ROH Women’s Pre Champion Deonna Purrazzo had previously expressed interest in teaming with Baker, which could provide her with another opportunity in the women’s tag team division.

RUSH Says “No Thanks, My Present Is AEW” In Response To Fan Telling Him He Could Be Used In AAA

In a recent response to a fan on Twitter, AEW and ROH talent RUSH stated that he is not interested in leaving AEW to go back to Lucha Libre AAA.

This fan stated “Brother, they could use you in the AAA” and RUSH responded back stating:

“No thanks, my present is #aew”

In an interesting note, RUSH’s response was a similar phrase Penta used when responding to the rumors of him leaving AEW for WWE and denying it being true at the time.

RUSH previously worked for AAA from 2019 to 2023. RUSH last wrestled for AEW on the July 1st episode of AEW Collision.

AEW Redemption PPV Buys Estimates Update

As noted before, this past July’s AEW Redemption event at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada was estimated to have generated between 115,000 to 125,000 pay-per-view buys based on early numbers data and estimates.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW’s Redemption event is now currently expected to have generated a lower number of PPV buys than originally estimated.

Meltzer reported that based on updated numbers data and late buys purchases, Redemption is now currently estimated to have generated around 100,000 to 110,000 buys.

Meltzer also reported that this would be the lowest buys for an AEW event in 2026 so far by a good margin.
