Ringside: PAC Memorial Tribute

“Throw your heart out in front of you and run ahead to catch it.”

RIP Benjamin “PAC” Slattery.

The show begins with Excalibur giving a statement on PAC, a man he’s had a great deal of history with. We go to the ring where Tony Schiavone talks about the man we’re honoring tonight. He talks what PAC meant to the company and everyone in it.

Video: Jon Moxley, Death Riders

With that we go to Jon Moxley addressing his loss at All Out, a promo that took place shortly after the PPV event and notably being the last thing we see PAC himself in. Mox talks about knowing how to lose in wrestling and in life, and losing people and opportunities. You’re not always going to get what you earned or deserved, and what are you going to do?

You keep moving, every single day. He talks about the sold-out crowds like tonight in Chicago, watching people like Ospreay do what they do. There’s nothing better than seeing these people pay to see you. He congratulates Ospreay but tells him all he’s earned is more hard work. He talks about the types of eulogies they give at funerals, they either talk about what kind of person you were are what you did.

He gets into the hard work that wrestlers do, and how they have the future of pro wrestling in their hands. Anyone like Will who has the guts to be great, to be really great, to take this opportunity and do something with it. With that, Mox walks off to leave us with the rest of the Riders. One by one they leave as well, with PAC being the last on screen before we go back to ringside for a 10-bell salute.

Ringside: PAC Memorial 10-Bell Salute

The entire roster is out on the stage for the salute…well, everyone but the Death Riders.

AEW Continental Championship
Orange Cassidy vs. Jon Moxley (c)

We get a shot of a empty chair with a towel in honor of PAC as Jon Moxley makes his entrance for our opening contest. He makes his way through the crowd before heading to the ring, as Orange Cassidy makes his entrance to get this Continental Title match underway!

It’s a slow start to the match as we see a rare display of emotion from Cassidy considering the circumstances, before the two lock up. Mox gets a hammerlock on Cassidy, who gets to the ropes to force a break. Cassidy gets a grasp on the champ, but Mox manages to break free. Side headlock by Mox, but the challenger breaks free for one of his own. The next lock up leads to Mox getting Orange to the ropes, but Cassidy manages to turn things around for a nearfall. Trade of pin exchanges ends in a standoff between them.

Test of strength now, with Mox getting the challenger down to the mat for a one count. He keeps on the pressure, getting Cassidy’s shoulders back down for a set of one counts before Orange starts to bridge back up. Hold still in place as Cassidy gets to his feet, taking Mox to the mat now. Mox transitions into a bulldog choke attempt before Cassidy rolls both of them to the ropes forcing a break!

Both men to their feet now as Cassidy gets to the ropes, taking the champ down with a shoulder tackle…but Mox fires back, sending Orange to the outside before slamming him face first onto the announce table as we go to an ad break.

We come back just as Mox drops Cassidy with a piledriver for nearfall. Mox brings Orange up, sending him to the corner before charging at him…but the challenger dodges him before slamming his head against the turnbuckle! Mox brings this to an end, sending Cassidy to the outside. Ref begins a count as Mox heads to the outside, bringing his challenger back into the ring…only for Cassidy to roll to the opposite side exiting the ring. Mox leaves to bring him back in, but Orange does it again.

Mox leaves to bring Cassidy back in once more, and this time walks around the ring while Cassidy starts to roll to the opposite side…where the champ intercepts him, causing Cassidy to roll back toward the middle. Expecting to do this yet again, Mox starts to walk around the ring…only to be intercepted with a dive by Cassidy, who follows up with a DDT off the ropes sending Mox to the mat.

Cassidy goes up top but this time it’s Mox rolling away, specifically heading to the opposite corner. Orange comes back down and goes after the champ, who takes him out with a cutter! Both men get to their feet, and Cassidy lays in his “dangerous kicks” on the champ…who wallops Cassidy with forearms to try and egg him on. Cassidy lands a thrust kick in response, and now they trade strikes until Mox is sent to the ropes.

Mox bounces back and starts to give Cassidy a taste of his own medicine with some light kicks. Cassidy can’t help but get a smile at this as he puts his hands in his pockets. Mox starts to follow suit but flips off the challenger instead, only to take a dropkick by Cassidy. Orange catches the champ by surprise with two Orange Punches, but Mox dodges a third before being caught on a crucifix pin for two.

Cassidy starts to build up momentum again, but is sent to the corner by Mox who gives a nod to PAC with a running start into a dropkick. He follows up with a Brutalizer, but Cassidy rolls through for a nearfall before cinching one of his own in on the champ…who manages to break free before dropping Cassidy with a Death Rider DDT for the win to retain.

Winner: Jon Moxley via Pinfall to retain the AEW Continental Championship.

Mox takes the title but instead of any sort of celebration just sits in the ring. Crowd chants his name until the music of Bryan Danielson plays, bringing out Mox’s former BCC partner who comes down the ramp sharing the emotion many of us are feeling tonight on his way to the ring. Sporting one of the new shorts honoring PAC and an armband, Danielson enters the ring as Mox gets to his feet using the ropes.

To be clear, this is not the latest confrontation between Danielson and the man who ended his in-ring career…but a chance for two men familiar with PAC to hug it out to a big pop from the crowd. Moxley’s music plays as we get a graphic hyping up an 8-Man Tag coming up next.

“Hangman” Adam Page shares his thoughts on PAC.

Eight-Man Tag Team Match
Don Callis Family (“The Jet” Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, & RPG Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta) vs. The Elite (Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson))

We head to ringside for our next match, with Kevin Knight out first followed by Kyle Fletcher and RPG Vice heading to the ring. The Young Bucks make their entrance next, followed by Hangman Adam Page and Kenny Omega to round out this mini-reunion of The Elite.

We start things off with chaos as the Family go after The Elite, sending all but Nick Jackson out of the ring before attacking him. Fletcher is evidently the legal man for the Family as he covers Nick for a two count. Nick starts to fight back and Matt comes in for an assist. Tag made to Trent, but the Bucks take him to the outside with a sunset into a German suplex. They pose but are cut off by Rocky Romero, who sends them out before posing in the corner…only to realize that Hangman has arrived. He turns to face Page but Omega slides into the ring behind him. You can hear Fletcher trying to direct Romero how to leave the ring, but the Bucks stop him at the apron before Page and Omega send him to the outside.

Berretta comes ack in but is cut off by the former tag champs, before the current champs help fend off Fletcher and Knight. The Elite leap to the outside with a Terminator-style dive sending the Family to the floor, and Page brings Romero back into the ring. We see the rest of the Family back in as well, and The Elite deliver punches in each corner before taking Romero down for a nearfall. Fletcher and Knight take out Page and Omega on the outside while Berretta tags in to drop Matt Jackson for a nearfall as we go to break.

Romero and Matt are in the ring as we come back, with Matt being sent to the DCF corner only to fend them off. He goes for a tag but Romero cuts him off, sending him into the corner again before trading off corners for a “forever” clothesline…until Matt cuts him off, setting up for a locomotion suplex that catches Berretta as well. Tag made to Nick Jackson now, and he fends off RPG Vice until Fletcher comes in. He sends Nick to the corner as Knight joins him in the beatdown. Nick fights them off long enough for a tag to Page, who sends everyone else out except for Knight (who got a tag at some stage lol), taking him out with a Dead Eye but only getting a two count.

Omega reaches out for a tag and gets it, but the Jet fights him off long enough for RPG Vice to try and intervene…only for Romero and Trent to each take a snap dragon suplex instead! Beretta tries to set Omega up for a double team but it all goes wrong as he gets taken out instead, and takes a Superkick Party from all four of The Elite. They follow up with dives in and out of the ring, clearing it out aside from Omega and Beretta. Omega goes for a V-Trigger but Trent escapes, only to take a Buck Shot into a V-Triggr. BTE Trigger by the Bucks is followed by a One-Winged Angel, and you almost feel bad for Trent taking everybody’s finisher before being pinned as The Elite are victorious.

Winner: The Elite via Pinfall.

The four celebrate in the ring

We get more thoughts about the late Benjamin “PAC” Slattery, an emotional statement from FTR’s Cash Wheeler.

Ringside: The Satterley Family Tribute to PAC Statement

From there we head to ringside, where Renee Paquette shares a statement made by PAC’s family. They talk about Benjamin’s life and career, thanking AEW and the fans for their support.

In-Ring: Swerve Strickland, The New Level

PAC’s music plays before we hear Swerve’s, followed by New Level. Out come the reigning World Trios Champions as they make their way to the ring.

They enter the ring, laying down the title belts alongside a towel honoring the man who had a storied reign with the titles in his AEW run (holding the record as an individual with the belt for 360 days across two different reigns). The champs embrace as we go to commercial.

Video: Ricochet

Ricochet shares his thoughts on PAC as the tribute continues.

Ricochet vs. Will Ospreay

We head back to ringside as Ricochet is accompanied by the GOA to the ring. He shows off the towel honoring PAC as he enters the ring, and out comes Will Ospreay to a nice reaction from the crowd. The World Champion heads to the ring, showing some love to the GOA on a night where any “in-ring animosity” can be set aside. We see United Empire at ringside as well as this match gets underway with a handshake and a hug in honor of PAC.

The two trade offense back and forth, each getting a nearfall in the process. Ricochet gets the upper hand as he lands an uppercut on Ospreay, forcing the World Champio to the corner. Ospreay fires back with a boot to the face, and counters back with a headscissors sending Ricochet to the outside…before dropping him to the floor with a dive through the ropes!

Ricochet gets back in the right, fighting it out with the champ before sending Ospreay to the outside…hitting a dive on his own sending Will to the floor before landing on his feet as we go to break.

Ricochet and Ospreay are by the guardrail as the champ narrowly avoids an attack, sending Ricochet into the railing and then brings him back to the ring. Ricochet sent to the ropes as Ospreay kicks him down before hitting an elbow drop for two. Both men are back to their feet, trading chops until Ospreay hits a Stundog Millionaire. Ricochet springs back up but takes a hard DDT by the champ for a nearfall.

Ospreay brings Ricochet back up, looking for Storm Breaker…only for Ricochet to counter into a hurricanrana for two! He takes the champ down hard before connecting with a Bret’s rope Phoenix splash! Cover by Ricochet, but Ospreay manages to kick out at two. Ricochet brings him to the corner but is caught with a reverse rana by Ospreay…but in a callback to their own history, Ricochet lands on his feet! They trade offense once more, before Will takes Ricochet out with a hurricanrana.

Ref begins a standing count as the two slowly get to a vertical base. They start fighting to their feet now, back and forth until Ospreay takes control. Ricochet turns it around before hitting the ropes, but gets caught with an enziguri by the champ. Ricochet back up and goes to the corner, only for Ospreay to take him down for a two count. Ospreay heads to the corner for a Hidden Blade, but Ricochet counters with a backslide driver and a Liger bomb for a nearfall.

Ospreay gets to the corner juts as Ricochet catches him, following up with a shooting star Pele kick in honor of PAC. Shooting star press by Ricochet only gets him a two count, however. Ricochet goes to the corner for a Spirit Gun, but Ospreay blocks him and counters into a Styles Clash…but Ricochet kicks out at two! Ospreay in the corner, and this time he connects with the Hidden Blade…but he doesn’t go for a cover.

He looks at the turnbuckle instead, pulling Ricochet to the corner before climbing up top for a Black Arrow in honor of PAC as he picks up the win!

Winner: Will Ospreay via Pinfall.

Ospreay celebrates the win before all six men hug it out as a sign of respect.

Video: Will Ospreay

Following the match we get a few words from Will Ospreay about PAC to continue the tribute.

Trios Match
Mercedes Mone, Persephone, & Dr. Britt Baker vs. Marina Shafir, Hyan, & Thunder Rosa

We head back to ringside for our next match, as Persephone is the first entrance for her team. She is followed by Dr. Britt Baker and Mercedes Moné before the trio heads to the ring. Thunder Rosa and Hyan make their entrances next, followed by Marina Shafir as we go back to a shot of the chair and towel honoring PAC as the Death Riders see Shafir out to a big pop from the crowd. Marina gets to the ring as we get this match underway!

We ultimately start thigns off with Persephone and Rosa, with the TBS Champion quickly taking control before tagging in Baker. Baker revisits her rivalry with Thunder as she takes her to the corner for some forearm strikes before sending her across the ring for a tag to Persephone.

Splash Mountain sends Rosa down to the mat, but in comes Hyan and Shafir as all six women get into it. Baker, Persephone, and Moné end up being sent to the outside, and their opponents celebrate on the apron as we go to ad break.

Moné is in the ring with Rosa now, with Shafir briefly confronting her from the apron before a tag is made to Persephone. She lands a few more shots before tagging Mercedes back in, who gets a nearfall before Thunder makes the tag to Shafir! Marina and Moné trade shots until Marina catches the champ with a double underhook attack. Moné back on her feet, but gets taken to the corner by Shafir. Moné moves away but ends up being caught with a PAC-style German suplex off the ropes by Marina who follows up with Mother’s Milk on the mat…until Persephone breaks it up.

Chaos ensues as all six women go at it. In the midst of all this, Baker gets a tag and lands a hook kick before pulling out her glove, showing it off to Mox who came to ringside before going for the Lockjaw. Hyan intercepts Persephone on the outside as Marina gets to her feet, breaking out of the grip of Baker before cinching in a Brutalizer in honor of PAC…and Baker taps out!

Winner: Marina Shafir, Hyan, & Thunder Rosa via Submission.

The trio celebrates along with Mox as we go to commercial, with a massive 10-Man Tag coming up next.

Video: Swerve Strickland, Darby Allin

We hear from Swerve Strickland and Darby Allin, who continue the tribute to PAC.

10-Man Tag Team Match
Don Callis Family (Mark Davis, Jake Doyle, Lance Archer, Josh Alexander, & Wardlow) vs. Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia, Gabe Kidd, Claudio Castagnoli, & Bryan Danielson)

With that, we head to ringside for our main event. Out first are the Don Callis Family…with Wardlow coming out for his return to action alongside Mark Davis, Lance Archer, Josh Alexander, and Jake Doyle as they come to the ring. Out next are the Death Riders, represented in this match by Daniel Garcia, Gabe Kidd, Wheeler Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli. They warm up around the chair honoring PAC before heading through the crowd to the ring, ready to fight the Don Callis Family as this match gets underway!

Well, you noticed that the Death Riders only have four officially in the match as Moxley goes to commentary. We soon find out why as the Death Riders intro plays again…leading to Bryan Danielson joining the Death Riders for presumably one night only! All ten men go at it to get this match underway.

Between the emotion of tonight and this chaos this type of match brings, I promise to do my best to recap what I can lol. Things eventually settle down after a brawl around ringside with Garcia and Doyle starting things off, with Doyle getting enough control to trade in tags as the much bigger men on the Family’s side lay into him. This ends when Garcia fights out and makes a tag to Kidd, who takes the fight to Archer.

Lance with a clubbing chop to the back of Gabe before tagging in Alexander, who goes to work on Kidd and drops him with a snapmare. Kidd takes a bit more damage before tagging in Claudio, who hoists Alexander up for a delayed vertical suplex…onto the top rope! He keeps Josh propped up on the top rope as Danielson climbs the turnbuckle for a double foot stomp. Tag made to Yuta and Claudio with a giant swing into a dropkick by Wheeler. Cover made by Yuta, but the Family breaks it up. Wardlow with a tag as the ring is cleared out, and Wardlow hits an F5 on Yuta as we go to ad break.

Yuta is sent to the corner as the Family continues to beat him down. Wheeler manages to fight back as Danielson reaches out for a tag to “Yes” chants…and he gets the tag in! He hasn’t lost a step as he lays some hard strikes into any DCF member nearby, clearing the ring out aside from the now-legal Alexander. He hits some kicks to the chest before Josh turns it around for an ankle lock…only for Danielson to counter into a LeBell Lock! Wardlow breaks it up before Claudio comes in, “Meat” chants ringing out as they trade strikes until Claudio takes out Wardlow with a flying uppercut. Yuta fends off an approaching Lance Archer before the ring clears back out, leaving Danielson to take a set of German suplexes from Alexander.

Tags are made to Doyle and Garcia as they tarde shots, but Davis and Wardlow intervene. They look for a double suplex but have to fend off Claudio and Kidd. This allows Yuta and Danielson to send them out as Archer gets back in. Marina hops on the apron, only to be grabbed around the throat by Archer…but she turns it into an armbar of sorts against the rope before Garcia sends him out!

Doyle comes back in but so are all of the Death Riders, who go for a carousel of clothesline on him in the corner. Danielson and Yuta hit a double dive before Kidd hits a PAC-style lariat on Doyle, who takes a Dragonslayer by Garcia into a curb stomp by Claudio! Garcia with the cover and the Death Riders win.

Winner: Death Riders via Pinfall.

The group hugs it out in the ring as commentary talk about the importance of Ben Slattery, the man they call PAC.
