Athena on Her Wanting To Do More With AEW Full-Time and Challenge for AEW Women’s World Title, Her Giving Mercedes Mone A “Couple Of Months” As Champion Before She Goes After It, & Who She Thinks Would Be Gaming Champion of AEW Locker Room

The Dallas Morning News held a recent interview with AEW talent and ROH Women’s World Champion Athena. One of the topics discussed included Athena’s thoughts about her wanting to turn her attention towards becoming a full-time member of the AEW roster after all she has given to Ring of Honor.

“It’s finally time for me to make that forever as well.

I feel like I’ve given the world to Ring of Honor. I’ve given years of my career being the ‘forever’ ROH champion. I’ve given so much to be the longest reigning champion in the modern day era, the most violent champion of the era. But when it comes to me, I want to do more with AEW. So this means more.”

Athena also gave her thoughts about her current goal of wanting to become the AEW Women’s World Champion and hold other women’s titles in AEW as well.

“I want to be AEW Women’s Champion. I want to be AEW TBS champion. I want to be an AEW tag champion to show the world that everything that I’ve done, holding a whole company on my back, climbing to the top of the mountain with it, was all worth it.”

In a separate recent interview with WFAA, Athena also gave her thoughts about Mercedes Mone’s AEW Women’s World Championship victory at AEW All In 2026 and how she will give Mone a “couple of months” to be champion before she goes after the title.

“I don’t know. I feel like me and Mercedes are very respectful of each other’s careers. Former tag partner, maybe current tag partner, who knows? I remember sitting at home watching her win with a broken nose of all things and just thinking, ‘wow, she’s an absolute star.’ Like, everything that I feel like she’s been through, in that moment, she finally got the big one, now that’s not to say that I don’t want a crack at the big one. It’s just to say, like, mutual respect is there. She didn’t come after my forever or always championship. I might let her have a couple months or something before I decide to go after hers, but you know what, villainy is in the eye of the morals.”

Athena also gave her thoughts about who she thinks would be the gaming champion of the AEW locker room.

“Ooh. I mean… As far as the girls go, it’s me hands down. I mean, I hate to humble brag, but I whooped everyone in Super Smash a while back. We lost at Diddy Kong Racing. It was really tragic, because I do love that game. But I think as far as the guys go, man, I feel like Ricochet might have that in the bag. Or good old Swerve. One of those two, because they’re always gaming the rascals. Oh, boy, the Rascalz have emulators they’re all sitting on. But we have a stacked roster, Evil Uno as well. I think everyone is going to be gunning for any opportunity that it comes to prove in the real zone who’s the real gamers.”
