Rusev has been absent from WWE since his loss to Je’Von Evans in a singles match at the July 27th episode of WWE RAW. This match was notable for Rusev dealing with a hands-related issue and him quickly leaving to the back after the match was done, which led to some online speculation of him being in an unhappy mood.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that the reason for Rusev’s current abscense was due to an “undisclosed illness” and nothing related to his match against Evans.
It was reported that Rusev was waiting to get cleared by WWE medical last week following his illness.
It was also reported that Rusev is currently expected to return to WWE television this month.
In regards to Rusev’s hands-related issue, those spoken to reportedly stated that Rusev’s hands went numb after he awkwardly landed on his neck during his match with Evans. While Rusev was able to finish the match, Those spoken to stated that he was given a couple of weeks off and then returned to the Performance Center.
