Several New Champions Crowned at CMLL Noche de Campeones 2026

Friday’s CMLL Noche de Campeones 2026 event at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico featured three championships changing hands.

The first was Rey Pegasus defeating Guerrero Maya Jr. to become the new CMLL National Middleweight Champion.

The second was Vegas Depredador defeating Esfinge to become the new CMLL National Light Heavyweight Champion.

The third was Kira & Skadi defeating Hera & Olympia to become the new CMLL Women’s National Tag Team Champions.

Scott D’Amore Comments on Him Wanting Maple Leaf Pro To Be The ‘CFL Of Wrestling’

TSN held a recent interview with Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling owner Scott D’Amore as the guest. One of the topics discussed included D’Amore’s thoughts about his goal of wanting MLP to become like the Canadian Football League of wrestling.

“There needed to be a development pipeline for Canadian talent to be able to go out there. Because there is an inherent advantage to being American in this business. It’s just so U.S.-based and the idea of Maple Leaf Pro was to create that – to a create talent scouting, development and showcasing pipeline that took it from soup to nuts, whether you had never been in a wrestling ring before but it had been your dream, or whether you’re one of the very talented independent wrestlers out there who are just looking for some guidance or opportunity…. so the idea was to build something, something truly Canadian, as a platform that could showcase not just Canadian talent, but the very best in the world and really have a focus on Canada and, in essence, being the CFL of wrestling. This is our league that’s going to feature great players, great athletes, from all over the world, but it’s also going to make sure there’s a ton of Canadian representation and development going on.”

New Texas Pro Wrestling recently announced that Katsuyori Shibata will be making his official debut for the company at their 8-Year Anniversary event on October 30 in Houston, Texas.

DDT-Pro Wrestling announced that Viento Levante had recently requested time off from the company in order to undergo surgery for a torn ACL and osteoarthritis in right knee.

CMLL reportedly drew a sold out attendance of 13,200 for their Sept. 18th 93rd Anniversary event at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

AJPW reportedly drew a paid attendance of 1,510 for their Sept. 22nd Oudou 2026 Finals event in Tokyo, Japan, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Stardom reportedly drew a paid attendance of 315 for their Sept. 19th Silver Week Tour event in Sakaiminato, 675 for their Sept. 22nd Silver Week Tour event in Fukuoka, and 509 for their Sept. 23rd Silver Week Tour event in Shimonoseki, Japan, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

In a recent interview with Fightful Overbooked’s In The Weeds podcast, Steve Maclin gave his thoughts about his current feud with Adam Copeland in Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling and how he wants to fight the best version of Copeland for their match at Northern Rising 2026. Maclin stated “It’s funny that everybody keeps saying it’s not the maybe not the best decision to make this personal with Adam Cope. For me, that just is. I want to make this personal because I want him to only think about Northern Rising and Northern Rising alone. I want the absolute very best of Adam Copeland, I want the old. I want the Rated-R Superstar. I want the Ultimate Opportunist. I want the guy that I looked up to as a kid, as one of my heroes and now as somebody that’s a peer with him, I want the absolute very best.” Maclin also gave his thoughts about how Copeland will be facing the best version of himself when they meet in the ring. Maclin stated “This isn’t some type of sunshine and rainbows matchup where we’re going into Maple Leaf Gardens and it’s this magical night for Adam Copeland. For me, I have everything to gain in this match whether I win or lose. That’s the fun part about this. I do plan to win, anybody going into any situation that doesn’t think they’re going to win is — I just think you’re an idiot.
