To start the show, footage was shown of Grayson Waller and Robert Stone talking in the NXT Parking Lot Playset. It turns out, Mason Rook isn’t cleared to wrestle tonight. So, instead of that, Stone said that Waller will have an open challenge tonight for the NXT title that anyone on the NXT Roster can answer. Waller seemed ok with that and we kicked right into:

NXT Women’s North American Championship
Thea Hail vs. Zaria (c)

Hail pinned Zaria last week, so she had a bunch of the ol’ momentum heading into this match. Hail held the North American title for 21 days earlier this year.

Hail jumped onto Zaria right off the bell, looking to work Zaria’s arm with a kimura lock. Zaria shrugged her off and sent her to the corner for a noggin bashing. Zaria threw some shoulders into Hail’s midsection, but Hail sidestepped a charge and cartwheeled off the top rope to catch Zaria with a boot.

Hail went for a crucifix, but Zaria got a little cocky and in countering it, left herself open for that kimura lock. Hail held it for a few moments until Zaria rolled through and forced her to brea it. Hail went off the ropes with an arm drag and dropkick. Zaria rolled out of the ring and Hail dove after her, but Zaria caught her with a punch tot he face on the way through.

Zaria threw Hail back into the ring and drove some elbows into her traps. Zaria bounced Hail’s head off the turnbuckle and whipped her into the corner. Hail tried to steal one with a rollup and then a backslide, but could only get two counts. Zaria powered back, hanging Hail from the second rope with a choke hold.

Zaria put on a dragon sleeper, but Hail flipped out of it. Hail threw a kick and then went off the ropes but Zaria caught her with a head butt to the chin. Zaria charged, but Hail pulled down the rope sending her spilling to the outside where Hail dove onto her. Hail hit a tornado DDT on the floor and then threw Zaria back in.

Hail hit a high crossbody, then an exploder suplex on Zaria before rolling her up for two. Zaria went off the ropes and Hail returned her headbutt before hitting a meteora. Hail went for a spingboard, but Zaria countered it into a German suplex. Zaria went for the spear, but Hail countered it into the kimura lock.

Hail cinched it in in the middle of the ring. Zaria stood up and powered out, looking for an F5, but Hail countered into a rollup that got a two count. Zaria charged and caught Hail with a spear and then landed the F5. She quickly made the cover and got the three count to retain the North American title.

Winner: Zaria via Pinfall to retain the NXT Women’s North American Championship.

Backstage: Noam Dar, Romeo Moreno, The Wagner Brothers, Fraxiom, The Vanity Project

Backstage, in the NXT Couch Lounge Playset, Romeo Moreno and Noam Dar were talking with the AAA Tag Team Champions, Galeno and Dr Wagner Jr. Fraxiom came in and put Moreno and Dar on notice that they’re winning the Dusty Cup this year. Then Vanity Project wandered in and claimed that they are the #1 Seed in the cup and they expect to face Galeno and Wagner in the finals (I would enjoy that too!)

In-Ring: Myles Borne

Back from break, noted jerkwad Myles Borne made his way to the ring to explain just why he keeps beating up his former friend, Tavion Heights. Borne said that he hadn’t planned it, but when he apologized to Heights, he became someone he didn’t want to be: a sucker. He felt that he was setting himself up to be one though and that’s why he attacked Heights. Borne said that losing his titles made him think about one man, Ethan Page.

Page tried to warn Borne about friends, saying that only one man could be at the top. Borne believes that he deserves to be that man and to do anything otherwise would be standing still. Being one half of a team was holding him back. So, he stomped Heights’ ankle through the chair, the same way he did Page and it felt right. He was finally able to be himself.

But then, the NXT Universe tried to make him feel guilty about it. Borne said that the support has always come because they feel sorry for him and were just “filling their social justice cup.” Without Borne, Heights hasn’t won anything, but alone Borne has won the North American championshp.

Borne said that it was no shock to him that he became a double champion because he’s always beating the odds. He’s not the underdog, he’s the favourite. He then said that he is going to be the real version of Myles Borne that never breaks. He then told the audience to go to hell.

Backstage: Robert Stone, Lizzy Rain, Chazz “Starboy” Hall, Mini Vikingo

Back from break, Grayson Waller was interviewed in the NXT Interview Playset about his now-open challenge NXT title defense. Waller said that Rook didn’t have to quit because the doctors did it for him. Waller reminded us that all the NXT men are soft and said that tonight is their chance to prove different. Whoever answers that challenge will get the “Grayson Waller Rub” so bring it on.

Mini Vikingo & Chazz “Starboy” Hall vs. BirthRight (Uriah Connors & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo)

Mini Vikingo is the future of professional wrestling. There, I said it. At just 18 he’s torn up rings from here to Mexico and if he can stay healthy, there’s no limit for him.

Vikingo and Connors started off with Connors using his height advantage ro push him into the ropes. Vikingo went around him, using his speed, but Connors caught him and slammed him to the mat. Stacks tagged in, but Vikingo avoided the double team. Vikingo countered a suplex into a double stomp and tagged in Hall.

Hall got thrown to the mat by Stacks, but quickly came back with an arm drag. Stacks tripped him up and grabbed a tag to Connors. Hall sent Connors through the ropes and then kicked Stacks in the face to sent him out there too. Vikingo came in and they hit a stero dive to the outside, but were caught by Stacks and Connors.

Vikingo got sent into the ringpost and hall into the steps, before Connors threw Vikingo back in for a backbreaker. Stacks tagged in and slammed Vikingo. He shoved him into the corner and Connors came in for a double team. Vikingo sent Connors out and dodged Stacks to get a hot tag to Hall.

Hall faced Connors and thew a dropkick, sending him out to join Stacks. Hall went out with a baseback slide, but Stacks caught him and slammed him on the apron (the Stariest part of the ring!). Connors worked him over before Stacks tagged in for a choke hold. Lexis King got a shot in and Stacks made a cover for two.

Hall fought back out of the corner but couldn’t get the tag to Vikingo. Stacks dropped a knee on him and tagged in Connors. Hall cut him off, but Stacks hit a back elbow and then Connors hit a swanton for two. Hall got a big boot up and matrixed through to hit a double Pele kick and get the tag to Vikingo.

Vikingo threw dropkicks and a tornado DDT on Connors. He then his a standing Spanish Fly on Stacks for two. Stacks shoved Vikingo who went up top for a crossbody, but Stacks caught him on the way down. Vikingo worked his way over and tagged in Hall.

Hall hit a standing shooting star press on Stacks, but Connors broke up the pin. Vikingo tried to help, but got thrown out. Hall at a kick and a stunner from Connors and Stacks went for a cover, but Vikingo dove in off the ropes to break it up.

All four brawled in the ring, trading shots until Hall started spamming superkicks. Vikingo hit a crucifix bomb on Connors. Stacks went for a springboard on Hall, but Vikingo came in a wiped him out. Hall hit a kick on Connors, sending him to the ouside where Vikingo did a twisting dive onto Connors.

Stacks took a DDT from Hall and Vikingo (the legal man) hit a twisting 450 to make the pin and advance the duo to the next round in the Dusty Cup.

Winner: Mini Vikingo & Chazz “Starboy” Hall via Pinfall.

After the match, Birthright started a beatdown but that conjured Zilla Fatu who ran down and cleared the ring to make the save. Stacks ate a samoan drop and then a Triple Z to send Birthright slinking to the back.

Fatu grabbed a mic and said he was done playing with Birthright. He promised to take them out one by one. He did it to King and will do it to all of them. Oh, and he’s putting his name forward to answer the Open Challenge later tonight.

Backstage: Cruz Montana

Next an “NXT Chronicle” played, starring Cruz Montana. Montana shouted out his mom for doing what she had to do to raise him and his siblings. Montana then talked about his father, who was told that he would be blind by 25. He drowned himself in his demons, but Montana is thankful for the time they spent together and used his father’s strength to get through his own struggles. He is proud of the example that he’s setting for his daughter and called out Dion Lennox who tried to use Montana’s past against him. Montana said that he was going to finish Dion because he’s the finisher.

Backstage: Izzi Dame, Zaria

After a commercial break, Zaria walked into the NXT Locker Room Playset where she found someone had covered her locker in pictures of her from high school. It was Izzi Dame, just for the record.

In-Ring: Kelani Jordan, Robert Stone, Reina Volcan

For the 78th week in a row, NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan came down to the ring to talk. She rolled through her NXT Promo Checklist, and then said that no one left on the Women’s Roster is good enough to beat her. She said that she will only put the title on the line for a worthy challenger.

That spawned Robert Stone at the entrance ramp who said that she won’t have to choose her next opponent. Next week, there will be a 20-women battle royal and the winner gets a shot at the title at Halloween Havoc. It’s going to include wrestlers from Raw, Smackdown, AAA, Evolve and even TNA.

Then Reina Volcan jumped Jordan from behind, declaring herself for the battle royal next week. Robert Stone, general manager, watched this happen and did nothing.

Backstage: Naraku, Robert Stone, Saquon Shugars

Back from break, Naraku talked with Robert Stone in the NXT Warehouse Playset. Naraku wanted to answer the open challenge, but Saquon Shugars said that he wanted it. Stone countered with a match against Tristan Angels in two weeks, as well as Shiloh Hill vs Naraku.

DarkState (Cutler James & Osiris Griffin) vs. Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom)

I kinda feel about Darkstate the way I feel about friends of mine who became cops. They used to be cool, but now I don’t fully trust them. Fraxiom on the other hand have never let me down, so we’ll see how this goes.

Axiom and Griffin started things off with Axiom tentatively approaching Griffin off the ropes. Griffin caught him and Axiom tagged in Frazer who grabbed an inverted headlock. Griffin broke free of it and sent Frazer to the corner. Frazer dodged the charge with a springboard, but Griffin caught him with a right hand.

James tagged in and took over, bouncing Frazer’s head off the turnbuckles. He threw an uppercut into Frazer’s face and then powerslammed him. Frazer came back with a kick and scrambled over to tag Axiom. They ran a double up double team to take down Griffin and James, but they came back in a big way with huge shots and a back breaker to Axiom.

Griffin dropped some elbows on Axiom before landing a Vader bomb out of the corner. He choked him on the ropes and then sent him to the DarkState corner for some double teaming. Axiom ended up on the outside where Griffin loomed over him before he scrambled back in and Griffin nailed him with an uppercut.

James tagged in and put a headlock on Axiom. Axiom worked out of it and dropkicked James in the knee. James responded with a back elbow off the ropes and then a gutwrench knee slam. Axiom pulled for a tag, but James held him back and sent him to the corner. James charged, but Axiom dodged and got the tag to Frazer.

Griffin came in an Frazer hit him with a n axe handle and a chop into a dropkick. James tried to help, but Frazer sent him to the outside and then dove onto him. Frazeer went up top and hit a frog splash on Griffin, but could only manage a cover for two.

Axiom and Frazer then went up for a double dropkick from the top on Griffin, but James broke up the cover, sending Frazer to the outside. Griffin turned Axiom inside out and then hit a neckbreaker, but Axiom kicked out at two. Frazer came abck in with a dropkick to save Axiom from a double team and then isolated James in their corner.

Axiom pulled him up top for a Spanish Fly and then took out Griffin on the outside. Frazer hit a fenix splash from the top rope on James and made the cover to advance Axiom in the tournament.

Winner: Fraxiom via Pinfall.

More therapy with Kendal Grey aired next. Her therapist asked her what she does outside of wrestling and Grey said nothing. She tried playing guitar and painting but it was boring. She tried Duolingo for Spanish but quit (I’m on day 108, Grey!). The therapist asked her about relationships and she said she was just focusing on getting back in the ring. The therapist told her that her lack of balance might be what’s preventing her from getting back in the ring. Grey considered this and said that she doesn’t know how to stop working harder. The therapist asked what happens when that no longer works and Grey said “that’s a good question…”

Backstage: Robert Stone, Izzi Dame

Back from break, Izzi Dame got called into the Robert Stone’s Office Playset so Stone could quesiton her about whats going on with her and Zaria. Dame said nothing was going on, so Stone put Dame and Zaria in the battle royal next week.

NXT Championship Open Challenge Match
EK Prosper vs. Grayson Waller (c)

Mason Rook was supposed to challenge Waller for the title, but wasn’t medically cleared to compete. So in a rare move of smartness, Robert Stone made it an open challenge match that could be answered by anyone on the active NXT roster. Waller came down to the ring and hurled some insults at Rook and the rest of the NXT locker room.

The NXT roster charged out from the various NXT Playsets, pushing and shoving to be the first one to the ring. It ended up in a brawl during which, Zilla Fatu and Cruz Montana stopped each other forom getting into the ring only to be attacked by Dion Lennox and Darkstate. That allowed EK Prosper to slip in from the other side of the ring. The bell rang and:

Prosper caught Waller completely off guard and ran circles around him in the opening minutes. He sent him to the outside, flew onto him, sent him back inside the ring for dropkicks, punches and so much more. Waller couldn’t keep up with Prosper’s speed, but managed to sneak in a quick uppercut to slow him down a bit.

Prosper sent Waller to the corner where they traded chops. Prosper then dropkicked him in the back of the head. Waller grabbed Prosper by the belt and threw him face first into the turnbuckles. Waller set him up in the corner for punches, but Prosper came back with a dropkick and threw exactly ten punches of his own.

Waller came back with a back elbow, flattening Prosper for a two count. He threw elbows into Prosper’s face and choked him on the ropes. Waller went for a suplex, but Prosper countered with a rollup for two. Prosper slammed Waller and then hit double knees off the turnbuckle.

Waller came back with a double stomp, but only got a two count from the cover. Waller ripped off his elbow pads before driving the point into EK’s face. Waller hit a side kick on Prosper for another two. Waller hit a suplex and then threw some knees into Prosper’s face. Prosper fought back with some kicks, but Waller put him on his shoulders for an elevated electric chair.

Prosper caught a forearm from Waller, but responded with a pump kick. Waller put him up, but Prosper countered with a stunner. Prosper went up top, but Waller kicked him back down. Prosper hit a side kick on the apron and tried to pull Waller down, but Waller hung onto the ropes.

Waller grabbed EK and dropped him face first on the exposed metal of a turnbuckle. Prosper fell to the floor clutching his throat. Waller casually waled over and stepped on Prosper’s neck before running him into the steel steps. Waller asked a little girl in the audience to give him her title belt, but she hilariously refused.

Waller got back in the ring, looking to win by countout. Prosper struggled, but got back into the ring at 8. Waller threw elbows and kicks at the dazed Prosper, toying with him in the corner. Waller lured Prosper into a taratula, before clocking him in the ring and going for a cocky cover. Prosper kicked out at two.

Prosper started battling back, throwing punches and kicks. Waller hit a back elbow and set Prosper up for a superplex. Prosper blocked it and clubbed Waller off. He nailed him with a superkick and set Waller up on the turnbuckle, but Waller slid out of it and crotched him on the turnbuckle.

Waller hit a DVD and made a cover for two. Waller looked like he’d had enough and wanted to finish the match. He went up on the second rope, but Prosper surprised him with a headscissor takedown. Prosper hit a superkick and then a tornado DDT off the ropes. He hit a michinoku driver, but Waller kicked out at 2.5.

Waller throat-punched Prosper and then hit a modified curb stomp for another two count. Prosper tried to get a springboard, but Waller knocked him into the top rope. Prosper fell to the outside where Waller clotheslined him and cleared the announce table. He set Prosper up on it and then climbed the ringpost.

Prosper scrambled up and knocked him down. Prosper laid Waller out on the table and hit a springboard moonsault onto him sending them both through the table. Prosper threw Waller back into the ring and hit a frog splash. He made the cover, but Waller got his foot on the ropes at two.

Prosper tried a dive, but Waller met him with a shot and hit a stunner in the middle of the ring. Prosper pulled himself up, but Waller caught him with another stunner. Waller slowly made the cover and retained the NXT title.

Winner: Grayson Waller via Pinfall.

Backstage: Zilla Fatu

Zilla Fatu screamed at Brithright, saying he is going to “f*ck up” Lexis King.
