Backstage Update on WWE’s Current Plans For Main Event Matches For WrestleMania 43

As noted before, WWE has been discussing early plans for Oba Femi vs. Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk to be the potential main event matches for next year’s two-night WrestleMania 43 event in Saudi Arabia. Besides the main event matches, WWE has also been discussing plans for Rhea Ripley to be featured in a prominent role at the event baring health issues.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources confirmed that the recent reports and rumors for the Reigns vs. Femi match to be the main event for Night Two of WrestleMania 43 is accurate.

In regards to the Rhodes vs. Punk match, Meltzer reported that those spoken to stated that this is not the current plan for the main event match for Night One.

Meltzer reported that Rhodes vs. Punk would make sense to be the main event match for Night One due to both being the two top stars on the SmackDown brand and WWE officials have mostly kept them apart from each other on WWE programming aside from their Undisputed WWE Championship match at this past August’s SummerSlam 2026 Night 1 event.

It was not stated which match is currently planned to be the other main event match for WrestleMania 43.

Meltzer also reported that these plans could always change due to this being the case historically when it comes to WWE’s plans for a WrestleMania event this far out due to injuries or other situations.
