Ric Flair on His Praise of Tony Khan Being “He’s A Nice Guy… I Work For Him & I Don’t Do Anything”

NewsNation held a recent interview with WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. One of the topics discussed included Flair’s thoughts about his relationship with AEW CEO Tony Khan and his praise of Khan for being a wonderful person and still taking care of him despite him not doing anything for AEW.

“He’s a nice guy, he’s generous. I work for him, and I don’t do anything. I think he takes care of me out of respect for me. He grew up on me. He’s just a wonderful guy. It’s not that the guys at the WWE — I just think they’re all kind of hanging onto their job, because you never know. [WWE has] fired so many people that were an intricate part of my career when I was there. I don’t understand the rhyme or reason for it. Some of the people — the guys that did my documentary on Peacock, two of the guys that did it have been fired.”

Flair also gave his belief that Khan could be the greatest promoter of all time.

“It’s internal. I don’t know who makes the final decision. With Tony Khan, who runs AEW, who is really one of the most wonderful people I’ve ever known, Tony has a group of people, which I’m sure they do at WWE, that he circles up with. And Tony does it right there. Tony Khan may be the greatest promoter of all time.”

In response to a question from host Biff Poggi about if Flair meant Khan could be the greatest wrestling promoter or the greatest promoter in any industry, Flair responded stating:

“I’m saying in wrestling. He may not be as smart as Vince McMahon, but only through, you know, years and years. Because Vince was really smart and very clever. But Tony’s a great guy, generous to a fault.”
