Video: New NXT Opening Intro & Theme Song

What appears to be a new theme song and opening package for NXT that are, frankly, shockingly bad. The video is good, but the song, Drake’s track “Shabang,” is terrible and the exact opposite of a pump up track that should kick off a wrestling show.

Backstage: Birthright, Zilla Fatu

Ariana Grace started off the show by saying that she’s going to win the battle royal, before Lexis King said that Zilla Fatu will not be winning their match tonight. Then it switched to Zilla himself saying, as you can imagine, that it will he him who wins the match. So without further ado:

Zilla Fatu vs. Lexis King

Last week the show closed with Fatu promising to “f*ck Lexis King up” for the grevious crime of wanting him to join Birthright. So tonight, we’ll see if Fatu makes with the f*cking.

Fatu jumped King before he could even walk through the fog machine and make it to the ring. He clobbered him on the entrance ramp and then threw him into the ring while the rest of Birthright jawed at Fatu.

Fatu hopped into the ring and the match officially started, with Fatu sending King to the corner. King dodged a splash attempt and went to drop-toe Fatu, but Fatu blocked it and dropped him with a spinning heel kick. Fatu reddend King’s chest with some chops and flung him into the corner.

King tried a comeback, but Fatu clotheslined him back down to the ring. He kept up the chops and headbutted King in the corner until Birthright pulled him out. Fatu leapt off the ringpost and took them all out though before throwing King back into the ring. King caused a distraction and Brithright pulled Fatu back out. Fatu fought them off, but King dropkicked him back to the outside.

King ran Fatu into the LED board but Fatu fought back. King bounced Fatu’s head off the ring apron and then hit a sidewalk slam on the edge. Throwing Fatu back into the ring, King dropped a bunch of elbows and threw some kicks. Fatu picked up King and sent him to the corner. King countered with a dropkick.

King hit a bulldog for a two count and then went for a headlock. Fatu broke out of it and King went up top for a blockbuster from the top rope for two. Fatu whipped off a sleeper and countered a sunset bomb but missed on the dropdown. King went for a runing kick, but Fatu caught him with a pop up samoan drop.

Fatu started throwing clotheslines, knocking King to the mat. King went for a big boot, but Fatu countered with a headbutt. Stacks and Connors tried to cause a distraction, but Fatu took care of them and then Charlie Dempsey. King went for a superkick, but Fatu no sold it and dropped him with a facebuster. Fatu hit the Triple Z spike and made the pin to win the match.

Winner: Zilla Fatu via Pinfall.

After the match, Birthright attacked Fatu with Connors and Stacks holding him while Dempsey hit him with a chair. Dempsey rolled Fatu to the outside and ran him into the steel steps. They then put Fatu’s hand in between the steps and slammed it between them.

Backstage: Kelani Jordan, Chatel Monroe

Backstage, Kelani Jordan was interviewed about the battle royal tonight for a chance to face Jordan for her NXT Women’s Championship. Jordan talked until Chantal Monroe interrupted her saying she is going to win the match. But then Layla Diggs arrived to say she was winning the battle royal. Jordan called them desperate and then left.

Video: Dion Lennox

Back from break, in response to Cruz Montana’s NXT Focus segment last week, Dion Lennox had an NXT Focus segment. He talked about how Montana’s mother was a drug dealer and how he chose to live a better life with good parents so take that, Cruz! Lennox talked about the pressure of being an awesome football player and how he didn’t want to let anyone down. Yeah, there were times when he wanted to be a loser like Montana (?) but he chose not to. He then talked about how it took him 2 years to get on NXT but it took Montana 20.

Backstage: Cruz Montana, Lizzy Rain, Xia Brookside

After that, in the NXT Lunchroom Playset, Montana talked with Lizzy Rain and told her to go out and win the battle royal. Then Xia Brookside, a former co-worker of Montana, came up and said “wow, you’ve changed.” ZING!

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic 2026 Tournament First Round Match
Shido Ash & Viktor Zanov vs. Hank & Tank (Hank Walker & Tank Ledger)

Ash and Zanov are being served to Hank and Tank on a silver platter with fries and a Coke here, so I expect that it will be Hank and Tank that move on to the next round to face the Creed Brothers.

Ash and Hank started things off with Ash showing off some of his martial arts skills throwing Hank with a judo toss. Hank tagged in Tank and Zanov came in as well, sending Tank to the corner. Tank exploded out of it and grabbed a headlock. Zanov countered it into a sling blade much to the surprise of Hank and Tank.

Tank pulled Zanov into something of a crucifix before tagging in Hank who hit a senton for a one-count. Ash lured Hank to the outside where he stomped on him before sending him back into the ring. They isolate Hank in their corner and beat on him for a few minutes before Ash hit another judo throw for two.

Hank threw some right hands into Zanov’s gut, but Zanov countered with a power slam. Ash hit a side slam for another near fall. Hank tried to steal one with an inside cradle, but Ash kicked out. Zanov went for a cover, but Tank ran in to break it up. Zanov charged Hank in the corner, but he dodged it and got a hot tag to Tank.

Tank threw Ash with an Angle Slam before whipping him to the outside and hitting a diving Senton on Zanov. Hank Joined tank and they threw Ash over the announce table. They put Zanov back into the ring and Tank hit a moonsault. Then the shirts came off, but Ash pulled Tank to the outside.

A bleeding Zanov went for a double chokeslam on Hank with Ash, but Hank got out of it. Hank caught Ash with a Bossman slam and then a big clothesline. He tagged in Tank and they caught him with the Honk Honk and then went high/low for the pin, in what was a surprisingly excellent showing from Ash and Zanov.

Winner: Hank & Tank via Pinfall.

Backstage: BirthRight, Sean Legacy, Dorian Van Dux

The scene abruptly switched to the NXT Warehouse Playset, next to the clanky poles, where Birthright were shown beating up Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux. Stacks said they were next after Fatu and then we went to a break.

In-Ring: Grayson Waller, Myles Borne, Tony D’Angelo

Back from break, NXT Champion Grayson Waller came down to the ring to be shocking and edgy. Waller talked about how ne retained his title against EK Prosper last week and for no reason whatsoever took a shot a Robert Stone, which I can’t wholly deem unworthy.

Waller gave Prosper his props-pers for their match last week and said hat Prosper will one day be NXT champion, but not now. Waller then ran through the same things he always says, making the title great again, no one breathing can beat him, etc. He asked who was next and that turned out to Myles Borne who came down to the ring.

Waller handed him a mic and Borne said that he’s done doing what’s expected of him. He said that he deserves to be a champion and now that Tavion Heights isn’t holding him back, he’s ready to take the one title he hasn’t won in NXT.

Waller said that Borne has the fire he was hoping to see and of course, that brought out Tony D’Angelo who said that Borne could take his new attitude elsewhere because he has business with Waller. D’Angelo said that he knows Waller would have hated it if he had answered the open challenge last week so he didn’t for some reason.

D’Angelo said that he wanted his title back and Waller said that next week, D’Angelo and Borne can fight it out and the winner can face him for the title. Borne answered that with a punch to D’Angelo’s face and then the segment mercifully ended.

Backstage: William Regal, EK Prosper, Robert Stone

Back from break, in the Nxt Warehouse Playset, Steven Regal (thank goodness!) approached EK Prosper. Regal said that Prosper’s match last week showed that he’s got stardom written all over him, so he shouldn’t be down on himself. Robert Stone wandered by and Regal got his attention. Stone was trying to get a replacement for DVD and Legacy after Birthright took them out. Regal suggested King and Dempsey take their place and Stone said “No, I can’t do that! They just took out Zilla Fatu’s hand! And DVD and Legacy! And….I guess you’re right, Birthright is in.”

Shiloh Hill vs. Naraku

This match is the 77nd in a 400 match series about Hill doing exploratory scientific experiments on poison mist and Naraku not liking that for some reason. Also there were talking raccoons at one point. So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They locked up off the top and then locked up again. Then they locked up. Then Naraku hi a knee off of a lock up and sent Hill over the top rope. Hill came back with some scoop slams and grabbed a headlock. Naraku rolled out of that and right into a shoulder tackle from Hill.

Naraku recovered and hit a swinging neckbreaker for a two count. Naraku clocked Hill with a right hand, sending him out of the ring. Naraku followed right into a discus forearm from Hill. Hill tossed him back in the ring and they hit forearms at the same time. Then headbutts at the same time. Then clotheslines at the same time. Then lying on the mat at the same time.

They got to their feet and traded chops before Naraku threw a kick and then tossed Hill into the ropes, Enzo Amore style. Hill got back in the ring and Naraku grabbed a headlock. Hill countered that into a rollup for two. Naraku went to a facelock and Hill drove him into the corner.

Hill hit a suplex and then a shoulder breaker for a two count. Hill went up top, but Naraku punched him in the gut. Hill shoved Naraku off and then hit a clothesline from the top rope. Naraku responded with a facebuster and a chop followed by a senton for two.

Naraku put Hill in a crossface but Hill dragged them to the ropes to break the hold. Naraku hit a spinebuster for a two count. Hill started powering up and threw strikes and a big boot. He hit Naraku with a pop up powerbomb and then a standing senton for two.

Naraku went to spit some mist, but Hill dropped down and the ref got misted by accident and called for the bell.

Winner: None.

They continued to fight.

Video: Kendal Grey

We went to therapy with Kendal Grey instead. Grey said that her current injury and loss of the NXT Women’s Championship was her fault (which it kind of was). The therapist asked if she was always this hard on herself and Grey said that she is because no one sees the woman outside of the ring obsessing over every mistake. Grey said that she has stopped being proud of herself and that her biggest opponent has always been herself. The therapist said that there’s no finish line, but this was a good place for them to stop now that Grey had met her three-appointment obligation and then therapy was over?

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic 2026 Tournament First Round Match
BirthRight (Charlie Dempsey & Lexis King) vs. Tokyo Bad Boys (Kento & Takuma)

So, Brithright took out Dorian Van Dux and Sean Legacy who were supposed to be in this match and Robert Stone was so mad he punished them by putting them in the Dusty Classic. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dempsey and Kento started things off by exchanging technical moves until Dempsey got him up in a surfboard. Kento repsonded with a few armdrags and tagged in Takuma. They double teamed Dempsey, shooting him off the ropes for a double back drop. King grabbed a blind tag and shot Takuma off the ropes.

Takuma got a tag to Kento who hit King with a crossbody. King bailed from the ring and Takuma and Kento dove onto them both on the outside.

Back in the ring, Dempsey and Kento fought with Dempsey throwing kicks and strikes. Kento got a diving tag to Takuma who hit a Spanish Fly on Dempsey and went up top for a spingboard 450. He made the cover, but King broke it up at two. Takuma kicked King off the apron and Kento speared King through the ropes.

Dempsey recovered and threw Takuma in a superplex from the top rope. He hit a bridging suplex and held Takuma down for a three count to advance to the second round.

Winner: BirthRight via Pinfall.

Backstage: Myles Borne

In the NXT Hallway Playset, Myles Borne cut the same promo we just saw, about the promo we just saw, regarding him and Tony D’Angelo.

WWE NXT Women’s Championship #1 Contender 20-Woman Battle Royal Match
Izzi Dame vs. Indi Hartwell vs. Reina Volcan vs. Arianna Grace vs. Layla Diggs vs. M By Elegance vs. Heather By Elegance vs. Ivy Nile vs. Karmen Petrovic vs. Adelicious vs. Lady Shani vs. Lizzy Rain vs. Thea Hail vs. Skylar Raye vs. Kali Armstrong vs. Nikkita Lyons vs. Chantel Monroe vs. Xia Brookside vs. La Catalina vs. Zaria

20 Women! 6 Brands! 1 Title shot! I have to say, all kidding aside, with current champions like Xia Brookside, La Catalina and Zaria as well as luchadoras like Lady Shani and Adelicious in this match, it is looking pretty good!

A large scale brawl started the match off with Layla Diggs being the first eliminated. Dame was then thrown out by Zaria, but tried to get back in until security took her away. LIzzy Rain narrowly avoided elimination, but Skylar Rae and Adelicious were eliminated by Reina Volcan.

Back from break, The Elegance brand was taking on Reina Volcan. There were eliminations what were missed during the break, but the Elegance Brand eliminated Ariana Grace. Thea Hail knocked M by Elegance into Heather for an elimination and then Hail sent M out as well.

We were down to about 12 left when Izzy rain worked over Zaria and Nikkita Lyons in the corner. Volcan shook off about five women who were working together to try and get her over the ropes. Ivy Nile and Izzy Rain fought on the apron with Rain eliminated Ivy with a head butt.

Brookside, Shani, Rain and more eliminated Reina Volcan who took it out on Lady Shani. That brought us down to nine remaining.

Zaria avoided elimination by punching Rain in the gut before hitting her with a backbreaker. Kiana James went under the bottom rope to eliminate Lyons from the outside. Zaria hit Rain with a high knee before tossing her over the ropes, but Rain skinned the cat and held on.

Zaria ad Indi Hartwell formed a loose alliance until Zaria double speared Brookside and then Izzi Dame snuck back in only to be eliminated a second time by Zaria. After that, Kali Armstrong eliminated Zaria and she and Dame brawled up the ramp.

Back in the ring, Hartwell and Brookside, who have a date at Bound For Glory on the weekend fought until Hartwell eliminated Brookside. Brookside then ran back up and elimianted Hartwell and they fought on the outside.

With five remaining in the ring, Thea Hail avoided elimination, but Kiana James managed to knock her off the apron to compelte it. Izzy Rain, Kai Armstrong, Catalina and James were the final four remaining.

Catalina hit a missile dropkick on Armstrong and James before spamming hip attacks. Armstrong grabbed her and eliminated her as James got caught by Rain with a high knee. Armstrong power slammed Rain and then eliminated James.

Rain hit a cutter on Armstrong and then clotheslined them both over the top rope. They traded headbutts on the apron until Rain bounced off Armstrong to eliminate herself. Then Lady Shani appeared, apparently not eliminated, and sent Armstrong out to win the match.

Then, she pulled off her mask and underneath it was Wren Sinclair! Even though she is currently suspended! And not in the Match!

Winner: Wren Sinclair.
